Fantastic product!
I perform regularly playing jazz guitar, using backing tracks I create in my studio to supplement my music. The result is typically a jazz quartet sound (bass, piano, drums) . I use archtops and nylon string guitars when I perform. I have a really critical ear so sound is absolutely a top priority for me as the backing needs to sound as close to 'live' as possible. I bought two of these JBL Eon's because I got really tired of lugging all my equipment around - which was a Fender Twin Reverb twin twelve tube for the guitars and a Roland KC550 keyboard amp I used for the backing tracks. To make the purchase decision I auditioned many of the products available at Guitar Center but kept coming back to the Eons because the clarity of sound is truly incredible. They can reproduce an extremely wide-range of sound, with absolutely zero distortion. In my last few gigs I performed in outdoor settings on over 6 acres of land and the sound carried with no problem all the way to the back of the event. The other thing I want to mention is how many compliments I receive about the quality of the sound. People are amazed at how much can be produced by these two speakers. When they approach any event I am at they are typically shocked to see a solo guitar player standing there because it truly sounds like a band is performing! I would definitely purchase again without hesitation. Also, I auditioned both the 15's and the 12's and actually liked the 12's better... barely any difference to me. For you guitar players out there who might consider this as a solution, I should add I run the guitar through effects to shape the sound (reverb etc) and that works great but they also sound good without any added effects, depending on your needs. Now, I am saving my back from lifting all that equipment and actually improved the overall quality of my sound in the process. Highly recommend these over the other brands out there.

Mediocre, I returned them...
30 year veteran performer and a user of JBL for 30 years. I've always used non-powered JBL Speakers but decided to try the powered version. I used these at home for a sound check before a gig and did not meet my standards for a performance. As a musician NOT a DJ I feel my ears and demands for accurate reproduction of what an instrument truly sounds like is the most important thing NOT volume!! The Highs were scratchy with poor cymbal sounds and poor consonant reproduction in the vocal range. Mids were fair but blead into the poor High end range. The lows were also undefined, sure they were low but muddy. without much definition. So, depending on what you have been exposed to and your expectations these may be the best thing you have ever heard, or in my case... I returned them...

Overall the speakers look great. The build quality on the JBL's look and feel amazing. Unfortunately thats all i can really comment on. The JBL speaker supports bluetooth connectivity and i purchased this as a gift for my father so he can stream music during small family gatherings. But you cannot do that with this speaker. You can adjust a ton of audio settings per speaker if you have many but thats it. I was sort of stunned that JBL would allow bluetooth connection but not streaming. Anyway giving it this rating due to not being able to stream. Returned and went with EV 12BT which allows for streaming music via bluetooth.
Disappointing - cannot stream via Bluetooth

I purchased this speaker for a gift and what a complete disappointment. The main use was for small gatherings and streaming music via bluetooth like say a fender fortis. But this you have to download an app just to control volume eq's and other features.
Great, durable and great price.

I am a late comer in the mobile DJ scene and have always been intrigued the the EON 600. They had it on sale before Black Friday so I went and got one. The product met my expectations. They are great sounding and easy to carry. They are well built and durable. I recommend this product.

How do these speakers rate from Mackie and other comparable brands
JBL speakers are just as good and are designed very similar to Mackie and other comparable brand name speakers. It is mainly a matter of personal preference.submitted6 years ago
