JHS Pedals

collapse expand iconDescription

The JHS Pedals 3 Series Reverb is an extremely versatile reverb pedal that lets guitarists explore a myriad of spacious sounds. With just three knobs—verb, EQ and decay—you have access to everything from subtle room effects to endless washes of ambiance. The EQ control allows you to sweep between bright, shimmering '80s-inspired sounds and darker, vintage-voiced textures. Engage the pre-delay switch to keep your initial pick attack from getting lost in the effect.

Intuitive Controls, Maximum Versatility

Don't let its minimalist design fool you—the 3 Series Reverb packs a ton of tonal range into its compact stompbox form. The verb knob dials in the overall amount of reverb, allowing you to go from just a hint of space all the way to cavernous depths. The EQ knob shapes the tone, emphasizing high, mid or low frequencies. At its brightest settings, the 3 Series Reverb conjures classic '80s rack units, while darker tones evoke vintage spring reverb units. The decay knob determines how long the reverb effect sustains, ranging from short, slapback-like echoes to endlessly cascading ambiance.

High-Quality Components, Affordable Price

JHS Pedals handmakes the 3 Series Reverb in Kansas City, USA, using premium components to ensure professional grade sound quality and road-worthy durability. Despite its high-end construction, the 3 Series Reverb comes at an extremely affordable price, putting lush, versatile reverb within reach of players at any level.

Pre-Delay Switch Keeps Transients Intact

The 3 Series Reverb includes a pre-delay switch that adds a short delay before the reverb effect kicks in. Engaging the pre-delay switch helps preserve the clarity and attack of your initial pick stroke by preventing it from getting lost in the wash of reverb. Whether you want a subtle ambient shimmer or an all-encompassing cathedral-like echo, the 3 Series Reverb delivers.

The EQ lets you perfectly adjust for a bright or dark texture to the reverb's overall tone. The Pre-Delay knob allows you to select a short delay before the reverb begins. This lets you explore effects ranging between slap-like singing in the shower sounds and spacey spring-like sounds.

This is a good reverb. The EQ is responsive and well graded. The decay has a ton of range. If you notice a dramatic jump after 1 o'clock, lower the verb a bit. The params are more intricately related on this pedal than some but once you get to know how they interact, there is a lot of versatility. As another reviewer mentioned, this might not be the best option if you want to broadly and quickly switch between types of reverb but it you want fine-grained control, you're in the right place. The tonal quality is good, no noticeable buffer or dulling here like in HOF, what you put in is what you get out, but reverberated. There are other reverbs out there, including one on my board, that sound richer but they start at about double the price. Looking forward to checking out the 3 series overdrive next.

Wanted something simple just to add reverb to my Orange OR15 as an always on pedal. Tried this against a few other pedals in the $60-$175 range and won, mostly because I wanted something that just sounded great and that I didn't have to mess with (I have an HXFX for that) does the job well and very cost effective. I usually like spring reverb the most, but this sounds great

A great basic reverb pedal, with the verb at lower settings it sounds more natural to me, I use this pedal with my synth too.

JHS is killing it with the 3 Series. After purchasing the 3 Series Flanger and loving it (I am an avowed flanger junkie, so the bar was set high), I took a chance on another in the line, the Reverb. With just 3 knobs and a toggle switch for pre-delay, it's uncomplicated yet surprisingly versatile and, most importantly, sounds fantastic. To my ears digital reverbs tend to sound very, well, digital, especially when hit with distortion, but this one is incredibly natural sounding. With the right combination of knob settings, I was able to coax just about every type of reverb from this little guy from springy bathroom slap to subtle plate to lush ambient wash. The ambient wash is where this thing really shines: It's deep and warm but never completely runs away with the sound. Instead it just kind of hugs your tone and gently keeps it warm. Because it's not laden with different types of algorithms, you're not going to get every type of reverb from it (ie spring, shimmer, modulated), but that's not the point of this pedal. It works equally well whether it's receiving a clean or dirty signal, a welcome feature that a lot of reverbs can't match. For the sound, price, and versatility, this pedal is a bargain. It's already replaced the $200 premium reverb on my board. For as minimal as it is, there are no 'boutique', handmade pedals available that can match this reverb unit.
