JHS Pedals Angry Charlie V3

Description
Furious-Sounding Amp in a Box
Turn the Drive control down, and you might be surprised how bluesy and vintage-like this pedal sounds. But through its different versions, our Angry Charlie distortion has always been one of the more aggressive British amp-in-a-box pedals out there. Either way, you’ll be injecting your amp with the grit and attitude of the UK amplifier heads that gave rock ‘n’ roll its teeth.
- Turns any amp into a screaming Marshall stack
- Go from bluesy Hendrix-like breakup to high-gain Brit tones with a twist of the Drive knob
- Drive and Volume control interact the same as a master volume amp head
- Back off your guitar’s volume to control your gain levels without losing clarity
Marshall-Style Tone Stack
After a couple of extremely well-received versions of the Angry Charlie, we realized that to really nail the ultimate Marshall-style tone, we had to add Marshall-style control. So we gave you a finely tuned Marshall-style 3-band EQ. Enjoy!
- Fine-tune your tone with controls for Bass, Middle, and Treble
- Active controls boost and cut their selected frequencies

Distortion Heaven
This is quickly becoming my favorite gain pedal. It responds quite well to the volume knob on the guitar. The 3-band EQ allows for fine-tuning the pedal depending on the amp being used. All 3 frequencies are perfectly chosen (in my opinion). Lows and highs control the "feel" of the sound more than anything, while the mids really give you anything from the vintage Metallica scoop to a mid-pushed high-gain Texas blues sound. I use a Strat with Texas Special single coils, but the pedal still roars when I want it to. Playing with a humbucker-equipped guitar, you can do anything from de-tuned chugging to Cliffs of Dover. Very versatile pedal for being just a drive pedal. Great job JHS.

Good pedal
Would have been nice if it came in a box and had a manual. I had to get on Jhs pedals website to read up on the 3 way switch.

Great overdrive pedal for a wide range of uses

The Angry Charlie gives you total control of the tone and drive. Starting on low turns a clean amp into dirty blues/classic rock, and as you add in more drive the signal stays crystalline and even. While, boosting a lead channel you can control all of the distortion and shape.
I would purchase the Angry Charlie if I had too.

I have always loved the sound of a cranked Marshall JCM800 and have wanted to get the 80s hair metal band tone for a long time and tried many distortion pedals to try and get me there. Like most people I don't have the a large enough room to put a Marshall tube amp in to be able to crank it to get the tones I want. Most. A lot of distortion pedals sound good and you can play hard rock and metal stuff with them but they don't give you a convincing Marshall tone. This pedal absolutely nails it. It sounds like you are plugged into a Marshall and just cranking it. It is very responsive, allows you to roll off the volume in your guitar to get less gain and it stacks very well with other pedals. I have used this with a 65 fender Princeton reverb reissue and it sounded absolutely incredible and I now use it with my 50 watt boss katana and it sounds fantastic on the katana. This thing will do bluesy light breakup to super high gain. This pedal is my favorite overdrive/distortion pedal and has a permanent place on my pedal board. One thing I will say is that it while it sounds great at low volumes it loves to be cranked up loud and the louder you go the better it sounds.
Best MIAB out there, and plenty versatile.

Great marshall amp sound even on fender equipment. Gives pedal board a strong, clear edge.
