JHS Pedals

collapse expand iconDescription

The Bonsai 9-way Screamer Overdrive Pedal from JHS Pedals is a tone chaser's dream come true. This innovative overdrive pedal packs nine classic overdrive pedals from the '70s through 2000s into one convenient stompbox. With the turn of a knob, you can switch between overdrive modes modeled after rare, vintage pedals like the Ibanez TS808, Maxon OD808, TS-10 and EXAR OD-1. JHS Pedals painstakingly analyzed and replicated each pedal to capture every nuance of the originals. Whether you're looking for subtle breakup, singing sustain or face-melting distortion, the Bonsai has you covered.

Nine Legendary Overdrives in One Pedal

The Bonsai lets you explore nine of the most sought-after overdrive pedals in history with the turn of a single knob. It provides spot-on replications of overdrive classics from Ibanez, Maxon, EXAR and JHS Pedals' own mods. Turn the knob to switch between modes like the warm, compressed TS808, the higher-gain TS-10 made famous by John Mayer or the searing hot mode of the TS-7. With so many modes to choose from, the Bonsai is an overdrive addict's dream.

Painstakingly Recreated Vintage Circuits

JHS Pedals went to great lengths analyzing and recreating the components and circuitry of each overdrive pedal modeled in the Bonsai. They used audio precision analyzers and other methods to capture the sound and feel of the original pedals, accounting for component drift in the vintage units. The result is a pedal that provides the authentic experience of playing through rare, vintage overdrive pedals from decades past.

Simple Interface, Enormous Tonal Range

Despite housing nine different overdrive pedals, the Bonsai features an incredibly simple interface. A single rotary knob lets you switch between modes, while standard Level, Tone and Drive knobs control your overdrive sound. The Bonsai gives you an enormous range of overdrive tones—from subtle breakup to all-out distortion—without complicated controls or menus to navigate.

Very nice pedal offering a history of the tube screamer all in one pedal. I really like this pedal and can say right now, it is a favorite and has so many different sounds/tones you can get out it. Very impressive, and I considered myself not so mucha tubes screamer kind of person.

  • I would by this again.Very nice sound

This is an amazing tube screamer. I go back forth between a ts-808 and a ts9. This does both of those circuits perfectly and allows me to add a ts10 and many more to my arsenal. They sound great and I am exploring the ones that I have yet to play!

  • Perfect analogue Recreations!!! 9 is a lot of options!!!

This thing is awesome. I understand that the sounds aren't massively different from each other but they are all different. Just shows that Tube Screamers sound pretty close to each other. The only thing I can say is that if you don't like this pedal then that's because you don't like Tubescreamers which is absolutely fine but that's not the pedals fault

  • Definitely worth it!

I'm a weekend warrior. My main band is managed by an agency out of Boston, and the other bands I play in do a mix of top 40 and rock or funk. This pedal has 9 very usable voicings. Each one has its cuircuitry routed the same way as the original pedal, so it's not a model of the pedal's voice, but the actual pedal's voice. Each one has very usable tones and the versatility of having them all in one pedal is almost too good to be true.
