    I wanted a flanger and this thing delivers. Great swooshing or can minimize for an almost chorusy sound. Smoothly combines with a delay too. Flexibility in range for depth and rate, more than I need. A great pedal that doesn't overwhelm me with endless options.

    Does what it's supposed to do at a low price. Sure there are more sophisticated and expensive options if that's what you need. I don't, so this works for me. The switch take you from flange to "Boing Boing" mode.

    JHS has created a simple to use, recognizable sound in their Flanger. This unit is perfect for those who want a flanger in their arsenal but don't want to spend half a century trying to distinguish between the myriad of flangers out there. In the world of effects, flangers are distinct from other noises in that they're either perfect for what your sound is trying to do, or they absolutely overwhelm your senses. There is no in between. The sound is haunting, hollow, and absolutely unique. When it works, its sound is essential. When it doesn't, it's grotesque. Unlike chorus, it can't be used as catch-all for creating air and depth. It needs to be paired with the right riff or phrase in order to work. With its two modes (Normal and Tape), this flanger allows the casual user to get recognizable sounds from The Cure to Pink Floyd to Heart without having four or five different units. It's not quite an A/DA or Electric Mistress or MXR 117, but it tries to be a little of all of those. Where it excels is in the Tape mode with its tunnel-like, psychedelic swirlyness which is great for solos. I love flangers and have several, but when I need an all rounder, I reach for this for its simplicity. It's limited in what it can do as opposed to an A/DA or MXR, but that's the point. If you only want a flanger just to have one, get this. If you want a flanger that will cover more territory, then this one might not be for you. But for the price and it being from a "boutique" manufacturer, you can't go wrong.
