JMR Electronics Quad Slot Expander Model LTNG-XQ

The JMR Lightning LTNG-XQ-8-RM is a 4-slot Thunderbolt-2 to PCIe expander with an internal hardware (6GB SAS) RAID controller and an 8-bay disk RAID array for working storage. This is an Intel-Certified product featuring four x16 (mechanically, x4 electrically) PCIe expansion slots and quad 20Gbps Thunderbolt-2 I/O ports so other compatible Thunderbolt products may be daisy-chained beyond the Lightning product.

Included in this 4U rack mount product is a Thunderbolt-compatible ATTO SAS RAID controller installed in one of the PCIe slots, and an integrated, hot-swappable RAID disk storage subsystem which may be populated with any compatible 2.5” SFF drives, either rotating or SSDs – thus providing “on board” storage up to 32TB! It has internal forced air cooling and is powered by an internal 460 Watt power supply, and is attractively packaged with a rugged powder coated finish.

The unique packaging design provides “Lightning in a Drawer” functionality: The LTNG-XQ-8-RM is a “sled” device that docks into a provided bracket that installs into a conventional rack equipment cabinet (using only the front vertical rail) and then slides into the docking bracket for quick, easy installation or servicing. The unit also docks with our popular Mac ProBracket model MPRO-DUAL-RM which provides a 16” deep “shelf” to accommodate the Lightning XQ as well as a MacPRO computer all in 4U of rack space.
