Four strings just wasn't enough for me, so I decided I'd give a 5 string a try. I've sworn up and down by Jackson so I thought, hey why not see if they make one. Sure enough they do. There were only 3 for sale used that I could find in the ENTIRE US. Grabbed one from here for ~$350. I'm not the least bit disappointed. I was iffy about the EMGs because I've never really cared for them but these are actually quite nice. The guitar itself is actually quite massive, took some getting used to but it's fine now. Expect sore hands the first couple hours of playing if you're not used to its size. One thing to note is that if your battery dies the bass goes SILENT. Accidentally left mine plugged in for about a week on vacation and came back and it made no noise whatsoever. I've never had that happen with guitar emgs, but if you've gotta replace the battery, you just gotta do it. I've never played a sub par jackson and this one surely exceeded my expectations.

Sounds just as good as it looks. Pictures do not do it any justice. Definitely made the right call buying this.

I own 4 Jackson basses (3 David Ellefson 5 Strings) and they all play and sound great. I like the maple fret board on this model. The only real cons are the pickups are not adjustable like they are on my other Jacksons, and it was very difficult finding a hard shell case because guitar companies are great making odd shapes but not making cases for them. I ended up buying an epiphone thunderbird hard case and slightly modified the bottom "horn" area and it fit like a glove.

  • I would invest in this bass

I saw this bass online used and I did some research on it and ordered it, grabbed it fast! It came to my home boxed and packed very well. I cant even tell that it is used? it is in awesome shape! The color is Blue and black flame, amazing color. I have owned several basses before, I still have my Steinberger headless flying v bass with EMG pickups. This Kelly bird signature bass is amazing, the sounds of the pickups are amazing, the nice smooth fast neck is amazing too. This bass IS made for Metal Music! I been playing for over 20 years and decided to pick it back up again to jam. Honestly, if you are thinking of buying a bass, take a look at Jackson Kelly Bird signature basses you will not be disappointed. I also want to give a very big shout out to the guys in the Colonie New York store, they helped me out so much! way to go, awesome service and very friendly staff! Go see them if you are local in Albany, tri state areas.
