Jackson JS Series Dinky Arch Top JS22Q-7 DKA HT Electric Guitar Transparent Black Burst

Description
Jackson Guitars brings metal players an affordable yet high-performance axe with the JS Series Dinky Arch Top JS22Q-7 DKA HT 7-string electric guitar. Featuring dual Jackson high-output humbucking pickups, this 26.5" scale extended-range guitar delivers a massive, biting tone ideal for metal and hard rock. Its graphite-reinforced maple neck and compound-radius amaranth fingerboard provide a fast, comfortable playing feel for intricate riffs and solos. The JS22Q-7 DKA HT's arched-top poplar body is lightweight yet resonant, with an aggressive shape that matches its tone.
High-Output Pickups Provide Aggressive Tone
The JS22Q-7 DKA HT is armed with a pair of Jackson's own high-output humbucking pickups, specially designed to provide the punchy, biting tone that metal guitarists crave. With hot, overwound coils, these pickups deliver distortion-ready output for high-gain amps and effects. The three-way blade switch allows selecting the bridge pickup for an edgy lead tone, the neck pickup for a warmer rhythm sound or both pickups together for a complex combination of the two.
Compound-Radius Fretboard Enhances Playability
The JS22Q-7 DKA HT features a 12" to 16" compound-radius bound amaranth fingerboard, providing the ultimate in comfort and performance. Near the nut, the rounder radius facilitates easy chording and rhythm playing. Further up the neck, the flatter radius allows for lower string tension when bending and prevents fretting out on big bends. The smooth, fast-playing neck also features 24 jumbo frets, piranha tooth position markers and a graphite-reinforcement rod for rock-solid stability under the tension of the low B string.
Arched-Top Body Delivers Attitude and Resonance
The JS22Q-7 DKA HT has an arched-top poplar body that looks as aggressive as it sounds while remaining lightweight and resonant. The arched top contributes to the guitar's projection and tonal depth. Stylishly contoured and comfortable to play, the sculpted body shape provides perfect balance and attitude.
Hardtail Bridge Provides Solid Tuning and Sustain
Instead of a tremolo, the JS22Q-7 DKA HT features a fixed hardtail bridge. The string-through-body bridge design provides exceptional tuning stability and sustain. Each of the seven adjustable saddles allow for precise intonation of the low B string and higher strings.

Impossible to achieve a low action

Everything about this guitar is on par for the price. The paint is perfect, The neck is straight. The frets are polished and not sharp on the ends. The fretboard was extremely dry, easily remedied by a little lemon oil. The electronics work as they should. The pick-ups sound really good. The tuning machines get the job done. Unfortunately the wrong bridge was installed making it impossible to get the action under 3mm. I realized during set-up that with the saddles bottomed out on the floor of the bridge deck, the string to fret measurement was 3mm. I measured the thickness of the bridge deck and it was 4+mm from the top of the guitar face to where the saddles sit. Since the guitar does not have a neck that slants away from the body the correct bridge should be much lower than the one installed. 3mm would have been the correct bridge height, For this reason I returned the guitar. If a low action is not something you're looking for in a guitar, then there is nothing wrong with it.

I bought this guitar because I have several 6 strings but have never played a 7 string. I wasn't expecting a great guitar, but I was expecting a little better than this. The Bridge pickup was microphonic, tuners are really bad and the volume knob separated from the plastic piece it was slipped on to and fell off on the first day. With all that said the neck isn't too bad (for me anyway) and it's playable with a decent setup and new pickups. I've had cheaper guitars that weren't this bad though.
Solid Workhorse.

It's a 3 piece bolt on so let's not act like it should play like Charles Caswells Legator. Jackson made a solid guitar here. I've owned 3 of the 200 dollar jackson 7 strings and this is an upgrade. Love the poplar body and maple top. This guitar would be very easy to upgrade with some EMGs or Seymour Duncan's. If you want to play djent this will do it.
It's alright.

Got it shipped. Some small scratches on the back. Very buzzy strings. Needs setup of course but not usually this bad. I can deal with it, I just feel like this may have been played a fair amount. Idk

Jamin the guitar tech set it up perfectly for me at the Augusta store and changed to some lighter gauge Ernie Ball strings because I read good things about them. I have 0 complaints about the guitar and I am really enjoying practicing and recording with it. No buzzing or noise issues for me either, I actually became suspicious of my other guitars when I noticed exactly how pure the sound is from this one. Shocked that it's available at this low of a price.
Shockingly good for the money

Considering its price and country of origin, I was pleasantly shocked by this guitar. The neck felt great. Frets may have been a little rough and could maybe use a polish, but were otherwise well done. Pickups sounded surprisingly good, may have been a little noisy, but would not have been in a hurry to change them. Overall fit and finish was excellent other than a few minor imperfections. The only thing I would have preferred different is the neck heel design. The only reason I returned it is because I'm not sure if 7 strings are for me, otherwise I would have gladly kept it and would consider repurchasing in the future.
