This is a great bass for all applications. Concerts, Church, recording and practicing. I think you should be able to find a tone all of genres of music and recording mixes. It is in my opinion a hearty neck in your hand it is very comfortable still. The Texas tea color and gold hardware makes hard not to pick this bass up out of all the others, the maple fretboard and dark inlays are beautiful together. and its is as powerful as you want it be. Great B string low end sound.
EXACTLY what I was looking for.

After purchasing this bass over a year ago, I wanted to give some insight and highly recommend anyone considering purchasing this beautiful instrument to DO IT. This instantly became my primary bass, gets picked up several times a week, and is used for biweekly live performances with tons of praise from my band mates, colleagues and the FOH for how solid it plays through all styles of music. It's extremely comfortable in hand and I truly believe was the best choice I could have made when I was shopping around last year! Since I'm being honest here, I will share my one, single, only "negative" thing to say about it, the neck is on the heavier side so it requires a bit more effort to hold "up" thank my other basses, but I adjusted to it after playing it for a month or so and I'm no longer uncomfortable or bothered by it at all. Maybe I just became stronger because of it. Aside from that, this J bass sounds INCREDIBLE. It plays like butter and the versatility in tone is amazing. You WILL find the exact sound you want out of this thing. Aesthetically this bass is also a pure 10 out of 10. The color is listed as Black but it's actually a rich espresso metallic brown with a golden pearlescent tint that sparkles beautiful in direct lighting. Pair that with classy gold hardware & cream pickguard and you've got a beautiful, timeless piece of art in your hands. Highly, highly recommend this.
Love it!!

I really wanted to like this bass, but….. I've ordered this bass twice now and I've ran into the same issue with the A string and D string buzzing around the 5th fret and I know it's not my playing I've had a guitar tech look at it both times and he's even said it's messed up. Very disappointed. This was my first and last purchase of any Jackson bass. Everything on guitar centers part was great.
