Korg's microKEY and microKEY Air Series Overview

Description
To USB or not to USB?
microKEY Air can also be connected via a traditional USB cable. Since the microKEY is USB bus-powered, you only need a single USB cable to connect it to Mac or Windows. There's no need to install a driver; just connect it to your computer and start playing. The second generation newly supports connection to iPad and iPhone. Add an Apple Lightning - USB camera adaptor and one USB cable and your setup is complete, allowing you to access apps such as KORG Gadget, KORG Module, and GarageBand.

Connect a pedal, and enjoy full control functionality
The 37, 49, and 61-key models provide an assignable switch jack for connecting a damper pedal. The 25-key model provides a sustain button that implements the damper function. On all models, you can use the octave buttons in conjunction with the key transpose function to play MIDI's entire range of notes.
The 37, 49, and 61-key models provide pitch bend and modulation wheels. The 25-key model provides a joystick that can also control pitch bend and modulation, as well as an arpeggiator function, giving you full control in spite of this model's space-saving dimensions, and providing a wealth of performance expression.

The key size is fine

I moved from an 88 key weighted midi keyboard to the Microkey Air as I needed Bluetooth for my setup. I have held off buying for quite some time as I was afraid the keyboard would just be too small to play. In reality, the keys are about 3mm narrower than a standard key, and considerably shorter. Right out of the box I had no issues adapting to the key size, yea they are smaller, but it is indeed very playable. The touch and feel is real nice, although I did have to adjust the velocity curve to my liking which is easily done using an app from the Korg website. I am using Korg Module with all its lucious sounds, on an iPad, plugged into GarageBand on my Mac via IDAM. This looks like it's going to work very well.

Great convenient unit. I appreciate having 61 keys as I accompany my wife often. Got it for travel mainly. It happens to fit nicely in the Fender Urban Squier Mini Strat Gig Bag sold be GC! Only nice to have I would like is a volume slider. Otherwise, well done unit for the price.
Small enough to keep handy, solid enough to play all day

This is the low-on-features, high-on-utility keyboard I have been seeking for years. Solidly built yet still lightweight, connects over Bluetooth 4.0 to lots of my devices, and most importantly acts as an extension of a whole library of iOS music apps that until now, haven't really been useful to me.

does this have a midi out for an organ module
No, the Korg microKEY Air 61 does not have a traditional 5-pin DIN MIDI Out port. It communicates via USB or Bluetooth MIDI, which means it cannot directly connect to an organ module that requires a standard MIDI input. To bridge this gap, you would need a USB MIDI host device that can convert the USB MIDI signals from the microKEY Air into standard MIDI DIN output.submitted3 years ago

This is all new to me. What do I need to purchase to get sound? I will be doing a lot of practice, do I need a Amp?
