I bought these in the store. Being in the retail bag, I didn't have the chance to try them out first and I was disappointed in the tone when I got the chance to try them out. They are well turned and finished but I wasn't buying for looks. Grenadilla is a tone wood and tone is subjective but... Ok, I had a set of Brazilian rosewood claves that were stolen and, while I don't expect to find anything that nice in the marketplace again, I need something better than these. These things happen. I will return them and order up a different set—hopefully with better results in the next set. If I have to order them up for store pickup, that's ok, too.

These Clave have a clear crisp sound and were just what I wanted as a gift for a friend who was looking to add another layer to our drum circle dates...

How Do Claves Percussion Work
You strike one against the other. Different sizes or types of woods will create different tones.
