Pretty good item, but there are better choices

This LP1305 blast block is a pretty good auxilary sound - it sounds nice by itself, but it's usefulness is limited. It sounds sort of like a cowbell with a softer attack and mellower tone. Tip hits make a thin "tick" sound while shaft hits give a loud full response. This is a great complement to the LP1307 Green Blast Block to make a pair of tones that go well together. However, the green one also goes nicely with the LP617 Sambago bells, and this yellow one does not. The yellow tone is too close to the pink sambago bell so they do not sound good together. Therefore, if you only want two tones and like lower notes, get this yellow one and the green one. If you'd like a three-tone array, then ignore this yellow block and get the green one and the pink & orange sambagos. The mounting clamp is sturdy and stays tight. It fits 3/8 rod and extra-thin boom arms, but standard diameter boom arms are too big to fit into the mounting hole. In summary, if you'd like to spice up your auxilary percussion this jam block will work, but it's oddly toned in the LP spectrum, so it has limited compatibility with other LP plastics.
