Bought a pair of these as drum overheads. For the price point I'm pretty much speechless at the result's considering these were replacing microphones that were exponentially more expensive. Will buy again.

Glenn at Spectre Sound Studios (youtube) is highly critical of any gear that comes his way. It's hard to get a compliment from him. So when he gave a glowing recommendation to the Lewitt Audio LTC 240 PRO I had to take a chance. I'm glad I did! Having a project/demo studio means using gear that is within reach financially and top end as far as quality. Lewitt has it covered! I take it with me on the road and run it through an ART Project Series MP/C tube preamp/compressor (Tung-Sol tube swapped of course). It tracks nearly perfect with minimal EQ tweaking. I can see applications for this in major studios. Take my word; this mic will be a huge asset to your work at a minimal investment.

Right now, it's the center mic in a 5-mic array recording simultaneous acoustic guitar and male vox. It's companions are two Groove Tubes AM51s on room mic L/R duty, a Golden Age active ribbon mic on mid L and a MicParts S-25 kit mic taking mid R position. Soloing the LCT240 PRO after doing the same w/ the others reveals it to be a very interesting mic w/ a unique "air" about it totally unlike the rest, and blends or sticks out equally easy. Now, THAT is a feat. So, we next put it up on female vox. We now have a new fave fem vox mic. And yes, we were fastidious as fork about getting the polarities right. Bottom line, this is a FANTASTIC mic, and not just "for the money". It kicked booty on some very fine mics that we have grown to love here @ Bear Bones Productions/Meridian ID, and cost significantly more than the Lewitt when new. Just BUY IT. You're gonna LOVE IT!! P.S. I bought one of these solely on the way the gear review doods and doodettes at TapeOp magazine unanimously raved about it. That almost never happens. Boy, they are SOOO not wrong......

  • Very nice tone for the money

Used this on acoustic guitar and had a very nice smooth midrange. Very well balanced, considering how inexpensive this mic is, I'm definitely impressed.
