Sy Smith // LEWITT LCT 840 Tube Demo
Description
The LCT 940 combines the specific characteristics of a premium large-diaphragm FET condenser microphone and a top-notch tube microphone in one housing. Basically, users can choose between the two main settings "FET" and "Tube". These two signal paths have been incorporated separately and work independently of each other.
"Tube" delivers the classic, warm and rich tube sound, while "FET" stands for the clear, exceptionally rich and nuanced sound LEWITT condenser microphones are renowned for. However, the LCT 940 offers another unique feature that true recording enthusiasts will swoon over: As the characteristics of the two main settings can be mixed and merged continuously variable, the LCT 940 opens up huge creative possibilities for artists and producers.
Furthermore, the LCT 940 features a total of nine different polar patterns “ our five "standard" polar patterns omni-directional, cardioid, figure-8, wide- and super-cardioid and four additional intermediate patterns. The microphone features four levels of attenuation and four switchable high-pass filters, LEDs and push buttons for noiseless handling on the PSU. Automatic attenuation and clipping history round off the outstanding feature list of the LCT 940.
Rich in advanced technological features, the LCT 940 opens up a new dimension of sound reproduction in demanding professional studio applications. Its unrivaled set of qualities makes this microphone a must-have for recording pros who strive for nothing less than perfection.

But this mic is better than its 3000 counterpart, in my opinion. Also, it stands in the same ring as my Manley Ref C mic. Overall, I'm very satisfied, and it's worth its price and then some.
This Is An Incredible Mic!

I love this mic! The LCT940 totally rocks. Ok to be honest I was at first a little put off by the display of the tube. I thought "they cant fool me! I know better than to be influenced by some good looks and showing me a pretty tube through a glass window." But then I tried the mic on a vocal and... Holy Hit Records Batman! It sounds incredible!! My favorite setting for this mic is a 140 rolloff on the low end (its gentle) with no pad, and set to cardioid with one click toward omni. Then put the blend knob right in the middle at twelve o'clock between the tube setting and the FET setting and start dialing it toward the FET side till you have just the right amount of detail for your song. What is unique about this mic is that it offers double circuitry for the mic element! You can choose to use the tube circuit or use the FET circuit. So cool. The tube setting gives you harmonic overtones giving your vocal a fuzzy warmth to the tone. While the FET setting has a detailed precision to the sound that can withstand a higher SPL. I describe it as allowing you to dial in a warm tube vocal tone but still keep the forward attack and bite from the FET circuit so that your vocal stay present in a pop track. This mic sounds killer if you get way up close and eat it! I made multiple records with it this year and my clients were thrilled with their vocal sounds. You will be too. Cheers!

This mic is one of the best that I've used. I love the Midrange and also the clarity of the top end. It brings the funk out of my vocals. I also love the fact that I can balance between the tube and more neutral fet sound. The multiple patterns make it usable in just about any studio application. This is a winner every day of the week. You need this in your mic locker! Keep funkin Bootsy Baby
