My son uses this for his field recordings and when he interviews people. Works with all our dynamic mics.

This product is listed as "3.5 mm TRS Male to XLR Female", when in fact, it is 3.5 mm TS Male to XLR Female". When using this cable to connect an XLR mic to a DSLR or mirrorless camera, it's the difference between recording on the right channel only or recording on both channels. Obviously this can be rectified in post, but it's a shame that the listing isn't accurate.

Does it plug into an audio in plug in laptop?
A Livewire Essential Interconnect Cable 3.5 mm TS Male to XLR Female has: 3.5 mm TS male (small plug, unbalanced, mono) XLR female (big 3-pin connector for microphones and balanced signals) You’re asking if it plugs into an audio in plug on a laptop. Answer: Physically, yes — the 3.5 mm TS male can plug into a laptop’s 3.5 mm jack. But functionally, it may not work properly unless the laptop's 3.5 mm jack is a true line-in (very rare) and not just a headphone/mic combo jack (very common). Most laptops today have a single combo jack (TRRS, 4-contact) for both headphones and microphone. Your Livewire cable is TS (2-contact), not TRRS — so: It might connect but not properly detect the mic signal. You might get no sound, bad sound, or weird behavior. Also: TS is unbalanced and mono. Most laptops expect a mic-level signal via TRRS format, not a line-level or pro XLR signal.submitted5 years ago
