Jack may be too long for some amps

Purchased this to use with a 10ish year old Peavey amp I only just found out had a dual footswitch (been using it with a single this whole time). First try, I was getting activation of both inputs (for this amp a boost and an fx loop bypass/engage) with the left footswitch and nothing from the right. I opened it up and started experimenting to find the issue. Finally was able to determine that the jack is long enough that it was going past the tip by about a millimeter and putting both pins on the ring of the TRS connector. Compared it to my old single jack and sure enough there was a little buffer on the old one that effectively made the jack a little shorter. Also did a quick search, and this seems to be a common problem with this footswitch. My solution was to drill a 1/4" hole in a jazz III pick and slide it on the new connector. Worked like a charm, it holds the connector back just enough to keep the pins lined up, now both buttons work as they should. Footswitch seems to work well, it's a little big for what it is and the permanent cable isn't my preference over a removable one, but that's just preference.

Sufficient not great

I bought this pedal for my Vox amp because the brand name is never in stock. The pedal works just fine with my amp but one big deficiency is that there are no indicator lights to know if the effect is on.

    Open Reply - Gear-Support
The Livewire FSW22 Dual Footswitch is not directly compatible with the Music Man RD112 amplifier. The RD112 utilizes a footswitch with dual RCA connectors to control channel switching and reverb functions, whereas the FSW22 employs standard 1/4" TRS jacks. This difference in connector types prevents direct compatibility.

Will this work as a replacement for the FS-7 foot switch that controls the channel / reverb for the Randall RG50-112? Thank you.

The Livewire FSW22 Dual Footswitch is not compatible as a direct replacement for the Randall FS-7 footswitch used with the RG50-112 amplifier. The Randall FS-7 utilizes a 6-pin DIN connector, whereas the Livewire FSW22 employs standard 1/4" TRS jacks. This difference in connectors prevents direct compatibility. Switching Logic: The FS-7 is specifically designed to control channel switching and reverb functions on Randall amplifiers, including the RG50-112. The internal wiring and switching logic are tailored to these functions, which may not align with the generic design of the FSW22. Potential Risks: Using an incompatible footswitch like the FSW22 could result in improper operation or even damage to your amplifier due to mismatched electrical configurations.

Update question: Will this work with switching from clean and overdrive with the Marshall mg30gfx-u

Update question: Will this work with switching from clean and overdrive with the Marshall mg30gfx-u

The MG30GFX supports a footswitch to toggle between Clean/Crunch and OD1/OD2 channels or to turn FX on/off, but it is designed for use with Marshall’s PEDL-90010 footswitch (single-button). One button will switch between the Clean/Crunch and OD channels (depending on what’s selected on the amp). The second button might not function at all or might trigger FX on/off, but this depends on how the amp is internally wired for switching. Because it’s not specifically made for the amp, button behavior might not match labels (e.g., one switch might do nothing, or both might toggle the same function). It won’t allow preset selection or memory functions—just basic channel/FX toggling.

Yes, the Marshall FSW22 Dual Foots witch will work with the Marshall MG30 — but only if it's the correct version of the MG30. Compatibility: The FSW22 is compatible with MG series amps that have a footswitch input, particularly the MG30FX or MG30DFX models.

Hello. I have a mid 80s Laney AOR Pro-tube Lead 50w combo amp. I'm looking for a 2 button footswitch that uses a TRS cable to control pre-amp volume and reverb on/off. I've been exchanging emails with a support guy at Laney and he says to get an unpowered one (no LEDs), or if they have LEDs to get one that uses a 9v battery instead of a power adapter. I suppose this is to eliminate noise.

He also says "Our mini FS2 footswitch just doesn't like old amps. The AOR switches by shorting voltages to ground, the current amps have a dedicated switching circuit and no grounding occurs".

Can you recommend a 2 button footswitch that would work with my Laney amp? Here's one I'm considering:

You need a 'latching' switch. Use this, it's better than the Mackie.
