It's Acceptable; Entry-Level Hardware That Does the Job

I'm not displeased by this product. It works with FL Studio 24 (the main thing I needed). There's slightly more input lag than there is on my computer keyboard but only when binding technically-complicated sounds to the keys, so it may be a pipeline issue with my computer's internal hardware as opposed to lag endemic to this model of keyboard controller. It does have velocity sensitivity but it's not as intuitive as pressing on the key of a piano. It's a bit finicky, but in a predictable way you can get used to quickly. Don't get frustrated if it takes you a few minutes. If it takes you longer than maybe 10-20 minutes, your keyboard might be broken. It only took me a few tries at a song I know well to get fully used to the feel of this keyboard and I'm a relative beginner. I can't even read music - I play entirely by ear and only use this thing to make beats for my raps. The buttons to control octave are a nice feature. I'm not sure if it's common since I've only had a used Yamaha keyboard when I was a kid, I played on a few proper pianos at friends' houses, and I've played on a literal computer-keyboard before I got this one to plug into FL-Studio. This is better than the computer keyboard but not as nice as the Yamaha or an actual piano - but has the benefit of flexibility and good compatibility with FL Studio. If you're using this for making beats, it's great - not the best thing out there I'm sure, but it does the job. But if you're trying to record a song on the piano, you're better off using an actual piano if possible. It's just better.

    I was throughly disappointed

The documented software is no longer supported or offered. The replacement software has no relevance, is completely different than the documentation, and appears to be missing the .exe files after download: and to top it all off there's this off putting license software tied to the thing that there is absolutely no mention of in the documentation or explanation on line. I tried two different PC's running windows and there was no getting around the problem. I RTFM numerous times and watched relevant videos. After 5 frustrating hours I packed it back up and made ready to returned it.

    • Not for use with Mac OS

I concur with a couple of the other reviews that point to this unit not being compatible with Mac. The so called user guide has no functional value whatsoever. It points to menus in the software that do not exist, and to websites that do not offer anything like what is mentioned. This has been nothing but a nightmare. Support has been friendly and offerred individual emails that replace the steps that are not in the manual. But the bottom line is that this is not meant for use with Mac OS.

The M-Audio Keystation 49es MK3 is a MIDI controller, not a standalone keyboard with built-in sounds or arranger features. This means: It does not have built-in sounds or chord modes. It does not natively support one-key chords like arranger keyboards do.
