MEINL Backbeat Bass Cajon Savanna Stripe

Description
A percussion instrument designed to emphasize powerful bass tones for drummers and percussionists, featuring a built-in bass port and mahogany frontplate, the Backbeat Bass Cajon delivers a full range of sound with a warm, rich low end that adds depth to any acoustic performance. The bass port helps focus the cajon's low tones for a sound that cuts through the mix. Adjustable micro-coiled steel strings provide a crisp snare tone with a contemporary snap, perfect for today's popular music styles.
Built-In Bass Port Provides Focused Low End
At the heart of the Backbeat Bass Cajon's robust tone is its built-in bass port, which helps project the cajon's lowest frequencies. The port allows the cajon's bass tones to resonate fully, resulting in a sound with punch and earthy harmonics. For stage use, the port also serves as a convenient option for miking the cajon to capture its powerful sound.
Mahogany Frontplate Enhances Warmth and Sustain
The Backbeat Bass Cajon's mahogany frontplate further enhances its low-end warmth and sustain. Mahogany is a dense, resonant wood that helps the cajon produce rich bass tones with a natural acoustic quality. The frontplate's wood construction also gives percussionists a solid surface to play on and helps the cajon achieve a boxier, more traditional cajon tone when desired.
Versatile Tone for Any Genre
With its focused low end and crisp snare tone, the Backbeat Bass Cajon is ideal for any genre from rock and pop to Latin and world music styles. Its bass port provides a contemporary kick-and-snare effect perfect for cafe and club gigs. Fully acoustic, the Backbeat Bass Cajon is also a great choice for busking and unamplified performances. A distinctive savanna stripe finish gives this innovative cajon a stylish appearance on stage.

Tried to add more snare sound by removing velcro strips and instead of the velcro separating it fell off. Not just one piece all the velcro fell off the inside of the cajon.
Good value, deep sound

So I am torn on this. I love the fact that the snare is adjustable. I love that it's guitar strings and not just a loose snare. I think it looks great and generally sounds good. It was exactly what I wanted when I bought it and until yesterday I could not be happier. 3 months later…. While loading the cajon into my car for a gig, the brace that controls the snare came off. Apparently a single nail holds it in place. I originally thought it was no big deal and that I could fix it at the gig. However, upon closer inspection, the brace is some sort of particle board and had split, rendering the brace useless. Thankful I did buy the coverage on it, but I will not be rebuying this, and will instead upgrade to a cajon with better construction. TLDR: great if you primarily use it as a seat and drum, but not a good gigging drum.

This is my first cajon and I've only tested a few. It has everything I was looking for: mid to low amount of snare, great tone, and huge bass. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Don't hesitate, you won't be disappointed.

How do you install the snare feature on a Cajon drum?
I’m sorry, I don’t know. You need to have a drum tech look at it.
