Meinl Fibercraft Designer Congas

MEINL

collapse expand iconDescription

This conga drum from Meinl's Fibercraft Designer Series offers dependability and professional sound characteristics. It is made from premium fiberglass and is finished in a dazzling carbon.

Fiberglass is used because it has defined and cutting characteristics, and is able to cut through the mix easier than wood congas. The conga also is consistent in any environment, never changing with the climate or humidity levels, like wood congas do.

Some of its other features include True Skin Buffalo drum Heads, providing authentic feel, and tone. Chrome-plated 10mm strong tuning lugs for durability and precise tuning. Chrome-plated 4mm rounded SSR-Rims providing a comfortable playing experience.

I have been playing wood congas for 40 years. I love the way they sound but you always have to worry about temperature and humidity when storing or transporting your drums. I have been thinking of switching to fiberglass for a long time and I'm glad I did. I read all the forums where players are trashing fiberglass drums due to unwanted/uncontrolled overtones and I can tell you they don't exist with these drums. I get pure natural tone with just the right amount of extra brightness and volume to set them apart from wood drums. Gone are the days of worrying about my wood drums cracking because I had to leave them in the hot/cold car for hours before/after my gig.

There may be a few small scratches or dents. Unfortunately, we have no way of knowing what the blemish is. However, it would only be a minor cosmetic flaw and would not effect the items play ability.
