    This is the first darbuka I've ever owned or played. As I am a complete beginner, I was looking for the cheapest one I could find that was also normal-sized and of good quality. I was shocked when this arrived in the mail because of how great it is! It has low doums and high teks! The skin that it comes with is perfect and exactly what I wanted. It doesn't have a plasticky feel to it, it's soft and comfortable to play.

    The weight of the drum is just right; not too heavy and not too light. The engraving is beautiful. The drum came with a spare head which is great and the hex wrench for replacement however no information on how to adjust/tune the head.

    I had to special order this from my local store and I was quite pleased at how easy and quick everything lined up for me. I was VERY pleased with the service at Guitar Center. This drum is just great. Perfect size, easy to play, easy to hold. I love the sound of the drum from the high to lows. Its easily tunable so if you want more bass then just tune it down. It isn't effected by the weather either which is nice. There is a copper AA Meinl doumbek that is engraved which cost more but would be an amazing companion drum to these as well as the matching darbukas to the set. My only complaint is that it is mentioned "hand engraved" and it is more than aparant that they are not done by hand. These are mass produced aluminum lathe turned shaped drums with spot welds and a lacquer and probably engraved with a DNC machine. Still. I REALLY nice drum!
