Matt Garstka Fat Stack

Matt Garstka Demos The Meinl Byzance Line of Cymbals

Description
"This stack cuts through the mix with a crunchy bite. With no ring, the sustain is dry and pleasing to the ear. Its trashy quality is maintained through a wide variety of tensions, with my personal favorite being a light tension that gives its Fat Stack namesake. It functions in my setup mainly as a time keeper, but it also works extremely well with choppy accents. Coupled with a snare it has a great organic hip hop clap sound." - Matt Garstka.
To produce the intense sound from the signature Fat Stack, the cymbals included are a specially made 18” Byzance Dark Crash with holes (top) featuring a sandblasted under side. The bottom cymbal is a 16” Byzance Dark china with holes and a traditional under side. Place the crash over the china (not inverted) to get the signature Matt Garstka sound.

Used as a second hi-hat, to accent when necessary.
Sounds exactly as recorded...I was actually shocked.

I love the dry sound of Matt's stack on AAL recordings, so I splurged. It sounds fantastic. No wonky overtones or weird wu-harmonics, just pure attack.

Amazing. This stack is so versatile in sound, loose it sounds washy but still very crisp, medium is perfect giving you the right amount if attack and volume to really cut through a mix, tight i feel like it still shines through but cuts through a little bit to much. In the 7 or 8 gigs I've had in the last few weeks I have used it with different tightenings. I also use the Sabian Sick Hats as my hats and this is a stark difference in tones, the sick hats are really bright this is really dark and adds a really cool tone to your set. Needless to say I love this stack it's amazing in all places you need a stack.
