I'm a cocktail kit drummer who's discovering the joys of the cajon drum set. This is the snare for my cajon kit, with a Meinl direct-drive foot-pedal-operated cajon beater for the bass and a Meinl low-hat stand and pedal for my 10" hi-hat cymbals. A fun, low-volume alternative to use when a regular drum set (or even a cocktail drum set) is too loud. I'm using it in living room performances and for busking anytime, anywhere.

Disappointed. I agree it definitely does NOT sound at all like a snare drum. Sound does not cut at all through anything. Really limited as to usefulness, even in a small venue cajon setting.

  • This will eventually crack and split in two!!!!!

The snare sound is good for low volume situations and is a really good add on for a cajon drum kit but I read a few reviews saying that it cracked and split right down the middle. Unfortunately it only took about a week to start cracking. I don't not play hard and only with rods but it still is cracking all the way around. I will be returning this and hope meinl improves this item because I loved it for the week it lasted.
