Turbo Slap-Top Cajon

Meinl Slap Top Video

Description
Meinl is thrilled to introduce the Turbo Slap-Top Cajon. This innovative lap cajon from Meinl is a conceptual step up to a new level of hand percussion. Designed to bring the playing surface up closer to the musician, the Turbo Slap-Top Cajon projects sound forward into the audience and directly into any microphone. Four zones including low, high and snare tones provide a nearly inexhaustible palette of sounds. Striking the sides and corners elicits crisp slaps and snaps, while playing the center produces deep, boomy bass punches. Even the lightest finger rolls are clearly audible thanks to the front-facing sound ports. For acoustic gigs where a full drum kit is impractical, the Turbo Slap-Top Cajon is the perfect solution.
Four Distinct Tonal Zones for Maximum Expressiveness
The Turbo Slap-Top Cajon's walnut frontplate is divided into four zones, each with its own timbre. A low tone in the center, a high, clean tone at the edge and snares on either side enable a wide range of sounds. Adjusting your strike position and force allows for subtle tonal variations, ideal for musical nuance and dynamic expression.
Ergonomic Design Puts the Sound at Your Fingertips
Unlike a traditional cajon, the Turbo Slap-Top Cajon sits comfortably in your lap, with the playing surface within easy reach. This ergonomic design facilitates complex rhythms, quick transitions between tones and extended playing sessions without fatigue. The cajon's ample 14.5" x 11.5" size provides a spacious playing area while still being compact enough for portability and storage.
Quality Components for Superior Sound
Constructed from premium materials, the Turbo Slap-Top Cajon produces full, resonant tones with outstanding projection. The 7-ply walnut frontplate features elegant wood grain and delivers a warm, balanced sound. Adjustable snares beneath the frontplate generate crisp snare effects. Rubber feet prevent slipping and protect floors. A sturdy plywood body and durable wrap finish ensure years of reliable use.
Ideal for Gigs, Practice and Recording
Whether on stage, in the studio or at home, the Turbo Slap-Top Cajon is a versatile instrument well-suited to any musical application. Its ample volume and forward-facing sound ports make it perfect for performances, while the lap-friendly design facilitates practicing complex techniques. Four pickup mounting points also allow for recording direct or miking the cajon for a natural acoustic sound.

A BARGAIN - GREAT VALUE IN THIS SLAP-TOP MODEL

A BARGAIN PRODUCT - SLEEPER> This Slap-Top Cajon (in my experience) has a very definitive break-in period, and the purity and range of tone keeps on improving - with a surprisingly strong bottom. I purchased the much more expensive "Artisan" Edition Slaptop and its a dud. Even though it has a larger surface area of play, the range is terrible.
I would buy it again

So far I'm just moving in and finding out where the furniture goes. Learning how to move around the drum and finding the sweet spots. Just getting started, but coming right along.

The design of this works - as is - but for myself, not enough variation in the upper ranges. I would like a LARGER version, more surface area = more range of play. This cajon is light, there's no weight bearing, so accommodating a larger one would be quite easy. Overall - its still excellent 'as is'.
This was a definite good buy

Great for any sort of percussive sounds needed in a small venue or when recording in a home studio. Much easier on the back than a standard cajon, great volume, and tone. Easier for me to regulate both. Nice to have snares on either side and a deep, bassy tone from the center.

Does this particular Cajon come with any type of paperwork ( manual.....warranty card etc )? Picked up mine today at the store as new, but was in a generic big brown box with some bubble wrap and taped like crazy. Definitely not the box it was shipped in. Had no paperwork, so just wondering. Thanks.
It should have been in a new box. Please contact the store managersubmitted6 years ago
