This is by far the most versatile phase shifter available. It was my favorite back in the 70's and still is today. I wouldn't be without one.

  • This pedal easily replaced my Boss PH-3

I originally bought the Boss PH-3 to use on my Martin Sigma DM-4S acoustic (w/Fishman RareEarth pickup) but I was never really happy with the sound I was getting from it. I play a lot of classic to contemp folk/rock and what I wanted to hear was more of a vintage sound than the Boss was giving me. The Boss pedal was ok (I'd give it 3.5 stars) but had a noticeable sweep sound when engaged that I couldn't seem to tweak out and a rather sterile (digital!) nuance overall. The MXR Phase 100 is giving me exactly the sound I was looking for - that warm, classic phasing you can only get with analog circuitry. I can easily dial in any phasing effect I'm looking for with no tone or gain drop and it's built to last. I'll be bringing in the Boss PH-3 to trade on a MXR analog chorus pedal, so I guess I can't complain about what I've gotten out of the Boss!

  • It's no Keeley phaser

It sounds pretty darn spot on the the Phase 90. But it really lacks the tweak-ability that something like the keeley phaser gives. Over all I would say it's a worthwhile purchase if you don't want to drop the cash for a keeley. I think I will return it however as it just doesn't do exactly what I want it to.

Great effect pedal. Had one years ago and lost it but I just got this one as to get that sound I missed. Only thing is that I wish they would have redesigned how you replace the battery. Other than that this is a great buy, cheaper and better than the Boss versions for sure..
