Custom Badass Distortion

Description
For added flexibility, there's a 100HZ cut and boost control that allows for a more focused EQ when cut, or a beefier tone when boosted. The Bump switch engages an alternate EQ voicing that boosts the lows and mids. Put it in front of the '78 Custom Badass Distortion for a slew of amp-like gain structures that won't mask your tone.

Features
- Classic overdrive circuit modded for improved performance and versatility
- 100HZ cut and boost control allows tonal fine-tuning
- BUMP switch engages alternate voicing for a low and mid-range boost
- True Bypass

I swapped out the blues driver on my pedal board in favor of this ... and now its mostly all I use. I prefer it over the natural gain on my amp .. which is a Marshall JCM (and sounds amazing by itself) . You will love the sound and clarity of this pedal. I play all types of rock: hard, alt, blues, classic, folk, 80s pop, glam ... its sounds great in all those genres.
Killer boost tones!

I use this for a boost to tighten up an already high-gain tone. I'm sure if used in a more traditional manner, there's enough flexibility with the 'Bump' button and '100Hz' knob to dial in tones to taste. It's a little hotter than the Tube Screamer, and preserves as much low end as you want. I'll be holding on to this one; it can be matched to several guitar/amp combos. For it's tone and flexibility, I'm not aware of another od/boost that can touch it in this price range.

I purchased this pedal about three months ago, and wanted to give myself some playing time before commenting on it. I usually don't review products, but this little pedal has qickly become a favorite of mine, so I felt that I should. Just to give a reference on what use this pedal for...I play a metal and hardcore punk style music, and play through a Marshall JCM 900 with a Strat fitted with EMGs I have been using the Ibanez turbo tube screamer for years, just as a boost for leads and such. But recently that pedal has been having some issues making it unreliable for live performances, so I decided to try something different. And I'm glad I did. This pedal impressed me right away with wide range of tones. But thats what I love most about it. I really love my Marshall tone, and don't want a pedal that will change it. And this one doesn't. If you have it dialed in right, it will give you the boost you need without compromising your amps tone. Or, If you want to change your tone, this pedal has a nice range of solid options. It can do anything from blues, to rock to metal. I tested it side by side with my tube screamer, and this thing, to me, sounds so much better. I don't really need much gain out of this pedal, as I run all of it out of my amp. So for me, 1/4 to 1/3 of the way up is plenty. The 100HZ knob is great for dialing in many different tones, but I keep it dialed in to match my amps tone. The bump button is great for some added bottom end which is nice for some of those fast chugging parts. This thing sounds so great, that I now use it for more than just boosting leads. Bottom line, this pedal rocks!
Better than a Tubescreamer.

I have an Ibanez TSA15H, which has a tubescreamer built in. Compared to the M77, the tubescreamer is a bit darker and lacks definition IMO. Keep in mind that I usually use these overdrive pedals with the gain down and volume all the way up, in order to drive other distortion pedals or the front of a distorted amp, for tight palm muting tones. Even so, I think the M77 sounds better than the tubescreamer when used on a clean channel. The M77 also has many more features, is very versatile, and is also the same price as the tubescreamer, which makes it a no brainer for me.
