SRM cabinets quickly became ubiquitous in bars, nightclubs and in mobile DJ rigs. The SRM V-Class Series raises the bar for active speakers that are portable and reliable. Mackie has upped the ante with a redesigned 2,000W Class-D amplifier, proprietary tuning and wireless technology. Bought this PA to serve as the amp for 3 instruments I use in the band; electric guitar, acoustic guitar, and keyboard. Didn't want to bring 3 amps. Great sound, plenty of power. First gig - outside - was great. Love the iPhone interface with Bluetooth control over the 3 channels.

Based on sound alone these are well worth the price. Crisp, clean highs... clear, pleasant mids... lows have plenty of tone and move some air. Very little EQ tweaking needed. Don't let their small size and light weight fool you... these are LOUD, and pack plenty of low end punch. Wide dispersion of sound and plenty of throw. These may be the last PA speakers I ever have to buy. There are lots of other bells and whistles some may find useful, such as Bluetooth (I'd always hard wire them anyway just to be safe), several EQ presets and a 3 band graphic (I'd always opt for the 31 band stereo graphic EQ in my digital console). The top handle isn't very comfortable, but that's hardly a deal breaker. I'd read online that they scuff easily, so I suppose you'll want to cover them during transport. The speaker's overall dimensions are a little larger than standard for speakers in this class, so they may not fit well inside a generic gig bag or cover. Naturally Mackie sells both that are a perfect fit. Bottom line: Loud and clear, full range, wide dispersion, light weight, easy to set up and break down. You won't be disappointed.
CLEAN Sounding Speakers With A Punch

My lasting impression about the SRM212 is that it's one of the cleanest sounding loudspeakers I've heard in almost a decade of DJing! Some of my favorite features are the "club" sound preset, indoor/outdoor location setting in the DSP, and the Mackie Connect App // Bluetooth compatibility. The 135db peak output and 90º dispersion are no joke. These speakers pack a punch, and move a ton of air. The only thing I don't like is the top handle is flat, and a bit uncomfortable to carry the speaker from. But definitely not a dealbreaker. These speakers are insanely clean sounding, and sound the opposite of harsh or painful. Looking forward to using these for wedding ceremonies!

Does this Mackie SRM 12 pair well with a JBL eon mk2 speaker?
It can work, but it’s not an ideal match. The Mackie SRM 212 (if that's the model you mean — sometimes people shorthand it "SRM 12") and the JBL EON One Mk2 are pretty different speakers in design and purpose: Mackie SRM 212: A standard 12" powered PA speaker, intended for high output and broad usage (bands, DJs, etc.). JBL EON One Mk2: A battery-powered column array system — designed for portability, wide even coverage, and more "natural" vocal sound rather than sheer volume. Here are the main issues with pairing them: Sound character mismatch: The JBL Mk2 will sound more "hi-fi" and clean, while the Mackie is punchier and more aggressive. Coverage pattern mismatch: The JBL's column array spreads sound very wide and evenly; the Mackie is more directional. Volume/output mismatch: The Mackie can get much louder than the JBL Mk2. Battery vs. AC: The JBL Mk2 can run on battery — the Mackie cannot, so you'd always need power for the Mackie. Best practice would be to match a JBL EON One Mk2 with another EON One Mk2 or another battery-powered column array with a similar sound profile and coverage.submitted3 years ago
