collapse expand iconDescription

The Markbass Mark Vintage Pre tube bass preamp pedal is an all-tube preamp that delivers the warm, rich sound of vintage tube amplifiers. Handcrafted in Italy, the Mark Vintage Pre is designed for discerning bassists seeking an organic, full-bodied tone in a compact, pedalboard-friendly format. Built around a 12AX7 tube, it produces a dynamic range with satisfying saturation and natural-sounding overdrive when pushed.

All-Tube Signal Path Produces Authentic Vintage Tone

The Markbass Vintage Pre features an all-tube signal path, including a single 12AX7 preamp tube that provides the warmth, depth and richness associated with vintage tube amplifiers. Its gain knob controls the amount of tube saturation, allowing you to dial in anything from a clean and clear sound to a harmonically rich overdrive. Offering two types of distortion (selectable via footswitch), the amount of drive tone, ranging from crunchy overdrive to aggressive distortion is controlled by the drive pot. The blend control allows to mix the drive tone with the clean signal of the tube preamp, while the tone knob adjusts high end response to suit your instrument and style.

Compact, Rugged Design Built to Last

Housed in a rugged metal chassis with premium components, the Markbass Vintage Pre is built to handle the demands of touring and provide years of reliable use. Its compact size takes up minimal space on your pedalboard, while its high-quality buffered bypass ensures pure signal integrity.

Simple, Intuitive Controls for Tonal Versatility

The Markbass Vintage Pre is easy to operate while providing a wide range of usable tones. Its blend control blends clean and overdriven sounds, while the tone knob shapes the overall EQ. The gain knob controls the amount of tube saturation and the volume control adjusts the output level to match your amp or other pedals.

Let me say that I have quite a collection of Markbass products over the years and none of it (other then typical wear and tear) has let me down. I was excited to add this to my pedalboard and finally be ready to go, unfortunately it quit working 2 hours into using it ☹️. Returned it.

  • This is the preamp I want and use.

I usually practice at night with a MarkBass compressor, into the prep, and into a pedal board. I picked this preamp because it is very similar to my MarkBass Little Mark Tube 800. I want the same sound I practice to, so I can run a line out of the preamp into my MarkBass head FX in and get the same sound. I run a 10-band EQ to compensate for room requirements. I am happy with the growl I can get out of my basses.

I am using this with a MarkBass Ninja 500 and the sound is amazing. Deep rich sound and you can dial in a bit of distortion if needed. Great buy

I purchased this to use as a head phone amp to practice my bass when traveling . It has a nice headphone amp and aux in it thats great for practicing... But once I ran it through the effects return of my TH500, It has ended up being the center piece of my bass pedal board. Has a nice tube bass sound that sits really well in the mix... I am truly happy with this purchase..

  • Noise noise noise underneath a nice tone

This has great tone don't get me wrong. With that said, the noticeable hiss at every volume and gain setting, let alone when boosting the high and mid high past 12 o'clock is simply unacceptable; and even worse when plugged into amp. Could only achieve a muddy tone without hiss.

  • Amazing tone!
