i use this fun little amp at home to practice and jam. sometimes with friends. i've have owned fender and peavy practice amps and this Marshall is just as good or better. i like the clean and various overdrives..the effects do a good enough job and really like the two different reverb effects. i like the headphone option for keeping the neighbors and girlfriend happy when playing late night. i play a Epiphone Les paul traditional pro iv and the combonation sounds super for hard rock and blues but i needed to get a heavy metal pedal for metallica songs. wish it had a longer plug in cable. but over all it sounds really good for what i payed.. ;owned it for two years and keeps on rocking

Jack of all trades master of NONE
The MG15GFX has a lot of features, unfortunately they all sound terrible. The clean and crunch channels are of middling quality, but the two overdrive channels are awful. They produce an obscene amount of feedback, have extremely dirty digital tone, and still fail to produce sufficient gain for metal. Effects are also bad. Reverb, Flange, Phaser, virtually all of them are of exceedingly low sound quality. Amp I got has constant reverb that cant be turned off. Not sure if its just bugged or if its some sort of strange feedback, but on clean channel there is always a slight echo even when making sure effects/reverb are off. If you play classic rock or acoustic electric stuff, this amp is an option for entry-level beginners. If you need it for anything that has a moderate amount of distortion avoid like the plague. The MG tries to do everything, and as a result it fails to do ANYTHING decently. Although compared to the alternative solid state amps of same price, its one of the less terrible ones.

What can I say - I actually have the MG15GFX which is a terrific sounding amp. Guitar center tries to pass the MG15FX off as a replacement which isn't even close. This sounds slightly better than the cheap portable belt amps kids use. Im planning to return this as Im very disappointed. As others point out there is a ridiculous amount of feedback on any overdrive setting, the quality sounds terrible, and the effect controls are terrible. Everytiem I switch to clean I have a ton of chorus despite effects being off. Very disappointed in this model - I would avoid it no matter who you are. Get your kid something cheaper and better.
