Martin Standard Series D-18 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Demo

Description
The Martin D-18, an iconic instrument from Martin's Standard Series, delivers the legendary dreadnought tone that defined acoustic music. Handcrafted with a solid Sitka spruce top and mahogany back and sides, the D-18 produces a robust, well-balanced tone with precise trebles and moderate bass. The High Performance neck offers enhanced playability, while the dreadnought body shape provides impressive volume and projection. Whether you play rock, country, bluegrass or folk, the D-18 Standard is a versatile workhorse that will inspire you to create music. The D-18 Standard lets you experience the heritage and prestige of Martin Guitars.
Solid Tonewoods Provide a Lifetime of Tone
The D-18 Standard is built with premium tonewoods, including a solid Sitka spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides. These woods are revered for their tonal qualities and ability to age gracefully. Over time, the spruce top will mellow into a rich, complex tone, while the mahogany adds warmth and resonance. Martin uses sustainable practices to source their tonewoods, so you can feel good about the materials in your D-18 Standard.
High Performance Neck Enhances Playability
Martin designed the High Performance Neck to improve feel and access across the fretboard. It has a modified low oval profile that's comfortable for most playing styles. The fingerboard has a 16" radius, making it easy to bend strings and play complex chords. Dot inlays provide reference points without distracting from the instrument's classic look. Whether you have small or large hands, the High Performance Neck helps you play with precision and speed.
Iconic Dreadnought Shape Provides Powerful Projection
The dreadnought body shape produces a bold, resonant tone that projects well in live and studio settings. It has a wide waist and deep body, creating an expansive soundboard that generates volume and rich overtones. When played vigorously, the dreadnought shape allows notes to ring out with a full, rounded tone that fills the room. For nearly a century, the Martin dreadnought has defined the acoustic guitar sound and influenced countless musicians.
Premium Appointments and Components
The D-18 Standard includes premium appointments you expect from a Martin Guitar. It has an elegant Style 18 rosette, bone nut and saddle, polished nickel tuners, and a tortoise pickguard. Martin's proprietary neck mortise and tenon joint ensures stability between the neck and body. Each component is carefully selected and installed by Martin's skilled craftsmen in Nazareth, PA using time-honored techniques passed down through generations.

Hope
I have spent a good effort trying out and researching guitars. I looked at electrics, acoustic-electrics, resonator guitars and banjos. My goal was to find the right product for me, relative to a deeply personal reason (the passing of my Dad). The Martin guitars clearly stood out to me, when I tried them at the local Guitar Center. As an FYI, I did not want to spend the money in my budget for the electric kit for an acoustic... I finally decided that I wanted the money to go towards the best possible acoustic guitar that I could get for under $2500. After I received in the mail and opened this guitar, tuned it, and started playing it, my leap of faith, of ordering this model (previously untested by me)... was definitely blessed by a higher power. I surely got it right... When you play this instrument, this D-18 dreadnought masterpiece, the tones melt like butter through your soul. I felt myself being swallowed up into the mahogany, ebony and spruce components as I strummed some basic chords, I actually had to pull my self back as the sounds were so mesmerizing. This guitar also brought special meaning to me as my Dad was born in the 1930's and on the 18th of November. Similarly this guitar is modeled after the 1930's D-18. My recommendation for everyone; the young and the young-at-heart... go find the dough, work for the cash, or borrow the bucks, and then purchase this guitar. Your life will be more complete once one of these D-18s is in your hands. Note that I my other guitar... is now stored away (with my maintenance, of course :))... but this one D-18, will be by my side, as I get old and weary. I have named her "Hope". And she is my strength. -- Robert

My Best Guitar
I had to buy a D-18 custom shop to get the 1 11/16 nut width that Martin always offered until about 10 years ago. Hence the 3 stars. All these options and Martin can't make a decent guitar with the original nut width. Can't go wrong with a Martin D-18. Whatever music you play this is it!

Had every intention of getting a Gibson Hummingbird until I picked this guitar up. It's all in the woods and overall fullness of tone. Just play an open E chord on this beauty and you'll know what I mean. Craftsmanship is excellent. I did have to lower the action to my liking . I also had a Martin / Fishman pickup installed and this guitar is top notch. This is truly one of the finest acoustic guitars you could ever own.
