Innovative Tonewood Substitute and Durability
The HPL Figured Ziricote X Series dreadnought features high-pressure laminate (HPL) construction for the top, back, and sides. This durable composite material, made from paper and resin, is designed to mimic the resonance and tone of traditional wood while offering greater resistance to environmental changes. The use of FSC-certified materials reflects Martin's commitment to ethical and sustainable manufacturing practices.
Comfortable Neck and Richlite Fingerboard
The neck of this DX1-E Special Martin HPL Figured Ziricote X Series dreadnought is constructed from multiple layers of birch, pressed and bonded under high pressure for unmatched strength and stability. Featuring a solid mortise-and-tenon neck joint, this design ensures excellent resonance with the guitar body. The FSC-certified richlite fingerboard provides a smooth playing surface, offering clear definition and sustain from chord to chord. The high-performance neck shape, with a 25.4" scale length and 16" radius, allows for effortless fretting across the entire neck.
Advanced Electronics for Enhanced Performance
Equipped with Martin's E-1 electronics, this dreadnought includes a discreet soundhole-mounted preamp with rotary volume and tone controls, plus a built-in tuner. This system allows for easy, quick adjustments and delivers a rich, dynamic acoustic-electric tone. Whether you're playing live or recording in the studio, the electronics capture the nuanced resonance of the guitar, ensuring your sound is projected clearly and powerfully.

Smooth and buttery right out of the case. It has a beautiful rich, full sound. Comfortable to play, even being 5'3" and 120lbs. The build in tuner is convenient and performs well. Sounds great acoustic and plugged in and it's overall a beautiful guitar. I thrilled with it.
Strumming feels like being wrapped in a blanket of sound.

The tone is perfectly warm, still a little bright depending on strings. Very well rounded! Not as loud as my DCX1E from 20 years ago, but I love this guitar! Sounds great plugged in too. One of the best guitars in this price range. Highly recommend!!!

Dead frets on the high e after the twelfth fret. Very disappointing. Good thing is I can return and get something different. On the bright side it sounds warm for a paper and resin body. Tuner location in sound hole is nice Gig bag is decent

What strings does this guitar come with? I can't find this specific guitar on the martin website. It does say most X series come with light but I'm not sure about this one.
All Martins ship with the Lights.
