Martin

collapse expand iconDescription

The Martin HD-28 Standard dreadnought acoustic guitar carries on the legacy of the renowned D-28, an instrument that has defined the acoustic sound for generations. With its rich history, premium tonewoods and modern playability enhancements, the HD-28 Standard is a versatile and inspiring instrument for players of all levels.

Golden Era Bracing and Vintage Construction for a Timeless Tone

The HD-28 Standard features Sitka spruce Golden Era (GE) top bracing, a key innovation that delivers a more vintage, breathy tone with enhanced sustain. This bracing pattern, inspired by Martin's historic designs, allows the guitar's tone to blossom with exceptional clarity and resonance. It retains the classic scalloped X-bracing pattern introduced in the 1930s, enhancing resonance and projection while producing a bold low end and shimmering highs.

Premium Tonewoods for a Lifetime of Musical Inspiration

Crafted with a solid Sitka spruce top and solid East Indian rosewood back and sides, the HD-28 Standard delivers the vibrant, balanced tone that Martin is famous for. The lightweight spruce top resonates freely, while the rosewood adds warmth and depth. This combination of premium tonewoods creates a guitar that will only improve with age as the tonewoods mature, making it an heirloom instrument that can be passed down through generations.

Modified Low Oval Neck and Comfortable Features for Effortless Playability

The HD-28 Standard features a Modified Low Oval neck profile with a Performing Artist Taper, providing a comfortable and ergonomic playing experience for any guitarist. The neck is also equipped with playability enhancements like a thinner fingerboard with a gently beveled comfort edge and refined string spacing at the nut. The new GE (Golden Era) modern belly bridge features smoother, more comfortable corners, further enhancing the guitar's playability.

Versatile Sound and Premium Appointments for a Stunning Performance

The bold yet balanced voice of the HD-28 Standard suits any musical genre. Strummed or fingerpicked, its tone rings through clearly. The low end provides rhythmic support, while the sparkling highs enhance leads and melodies. Whether recording multiple tracks or performing solo, this guitar shines in any environment. With vintage-inspired appointments like herringbone trim, diamond fretboard inlay and polished East Indian rosewood, the HD-28 Standard is as striking visually as it is tonally.

I tried a few different Martin models back-to-back-to-back and the HD28 was the clear standout to me. Plays and sounds like heaven. This guitar will be a family heirloom someday. It absolutely sings and I feel like I instantly became a better player once I picked it up.

This is the grand piano of acoustic guitars. Words can't describe it until you feel it in your hands and hear it.
