Love this guitar, HPL and all
I see a lot of people dogging on these Martin X Series guitars, mainly because they are not solid wood. The back and sides of this guitar are High Pressure Laminate. Normally, I would prefer solid wood, and who wouldn't, but for this guitar (and I'm assuming the rest of the X Series guitars) IT JUST WORKS! The Martin X Series 000 sounds beautiful. Highs, mids, lows are all in there. It produces a very full sound. Nothing is missing from that. It all sounds very pleasing to my ear. On top of that, it is very easy for me to play. I find the neck is very smooth and comfortable. Also, the action on my guitar is very, very low, without fret buzz, adding to the guitar's playability. I recently bought an Acoustic brand Amp, so I can tell you the Fishman brand electronics built into this guitar work perfectly and sound fantastic. Martin has been using HPL in these X Series guitars for at least 15 years, maybe longer. They are a ton of doubters, but before you discredit these guitars, try one for yourself. Whatever the manufacturer is doing with these materials, it works. I would recommend this guitar to a friend. Already have, actually. I don't care how much money you have or how experienced you are, I believe you will enjoy playing this guitar. You do not have to pay $2,500 to get Martin's legendary tone and quality. Viva Mexico! Something random, that happens to be one of my favorite features on my guitar, is the pickgaurd. Normally these guitars come with faux tortoise pickguards. However, some models produced during the pandemic have black pickguards, due to a lack of supply, I'm assuming. Normally, I prefer the tortoiseshell look. Although, in this case, I believe the black pickguard is like a limit edition. Only to be used during COVID. Also, though beware, if you're expecting a tortoise pickguard. Don't be surprised if you get a black one..

It has a Martin logo on it. So? No I would not buy this agai
This guitar is okay for the person who just wants "Martin" logo on their guitar without caring about the deep sonic quality of the Martin guitar sound or the high end Martin quality, craftmanship of Nazareth built guitars. IMHO I think you can buy a better constructed (solid wood all around) for the same $. .

This is a great guitar. It has a super nice feel to it and the shape is just awesome. I really like the nice acoustic sound that it has. When you plug it in, it sounds very natural. It also looks super nice and you can't even tell that most of it is not real wood. Great choice and great price for a great guitar

I've had two other Martin guitars in the past and I wanted to get back into playing again. For me, Martin is the best choice. I chose this model primarily for its price point as a starting place for me. In the near future, I will be looking for another Martin, because, like potato chips, you can't just have one!

Great sound, great price. Perfect for beginners and intermediates and even advanced. If you are in the market for a Martin this is the one I would recommend. Have been playing it everyday as the sound is very crisp! If you want crisp over warm tone, this is the purchase you need to make right now

Is this considered a parlor guitar or no?
No, it isn't. It is a common practice to refer guitar with bout smaller than 13.5 inches as Parlor Guitar. This is a 000. That's about a 15" bout.submitted3 years ago
