MESA/Boogie SPAX7 preamp tubes are a premium-grade 12AX7 that possess an even higher standard of overall performance due to their incredibly low sensitivity to microphonic noise. This is a go-to preamp tube to use in critical gain stage applications, particularly in first stage/input positions or other high-gain stages in the preamp tube string. These tubes go through a rigorous 12AX7 testing process and, when found to be substantially more stable and quiet in extreme high-gain applications, are then fitted with a shrink-wrap shielding, further stabilizing the tube and reducing external interference and noise. MESA/Boogie SPAX7s deliver the lowest noise floor for the highest gain output, providing an excellent option for tubes to have on hand as spares and for any applications where the absolute lowest noise floor and low-microphonic response is needed.

    I used this tube in the V1 preamp tube socket as recommended by Mesa Boogie for a Dual Rectifier. The tube works as it should! The sound amazing.

    This is used in a Mesa Twin V preamp rack mount and only on the Gain side. I did install these in the Mesa 50/50 head Too and WOW, I have more gain with the over drive pedal now. There only a Fue dollars more Why Not use these!!!

    have two of the same amps one came with these preamp tubes in it and that amp sounded better so i've swopped out all my jj for these mesa preamp tubes and they do make s a difference and last long also.

    This is the best tube for your v1 position, cuts down on the microphonic chatter and feedback if you're playing your pickups too close to your amp. Takes 4-5 months to fufill backorder but well worth the wait.

    Installed 3 of these in my Egnater Tweaker 15 and what a difference! Brighter, more defined overall sound and a little extra punch! Can't go wrong by swapping your 12ax7's with these tubes, the change is unmistakably noticed as soon you finish the swap.
