Morgan Amplification

collapse expand iconDescription

Similar to its big brother, the Morgan AC20 is a deceptively simple hand-wired, all-tube, 1×12″ combo capable of producing a myriad of early '60s British AC tones. But that's just the beginning. The included power level control allows you to dial in just the right amount of volume without sacrificing your tone the way some master volumes do.

You know that warm, satisfying feeling you get when you put on clothes fresh out of the dryer? Well imagine that, but for your ears. This is simply the best Vox style amp I've ever played. I jumped up to this from a Blues Jr. and was blown away at the difference in the quality of the tone. I've always loved the Vox sound however, an AC15 lacks headroom and an AC30 is just too ruddy loud for what I do. The Morgan AC20 balances headroom and volume beautifully, plus with a simple adjustment of the power level and cut knobs, I can get a great practice volume without making the amp sound flat. Don't underestimate the simple control layout as I once did. There's plenty of flexibility of tone in the knobs and switches available. I found that the simpler layout merely made it easier to dial in a sound that works for my rig/context. Sure there are other great hand-wired Vox style amps, but with the price point and the fact that it's made in the USA, you really can't beat this one. Top level components, top level workmanship, top level amp. P.S. Even my buddy who hates Vox style amps thinks this one sounds righteous.
