Morgan Amplification MVP23 23W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp Twilight Finish

Description
The MVP23 output power is controlled with Morgan’s Power level circuitry. The Power Level control is a big part of the magic. Most guitarists today have spent large sums of money and even more amounts of time working on their pedal boards. Most pedals are not designed to be used with a tube amp on “1”. They were designed to interact with the amplifier at or near the point at which it begins to break up. That is why an overdrive pedal is called an “over” drive. It is driving the amp over that point. Unfortunately that volume can be too loud for most live applications.
The Power Level control on the MVP23 solves this. Think of conventional master volumes as a spigot on a garden hose, they choke off the signal to the power section of the amp to a usable level. Most conventional master volumes also affect the way your pedals interact with your amp. The Power Level control behaves like a zoom lens. It limits the size of the output signal that can be produced by the output tubes. It does NOT choke the signal down and, therefore, behaves identical as if the amp were running at full volume. This means that you can choose the power that you need, anything from 1/4W to 23W.
At the heart of the MVP23 combo is a 16-ohm, 12-in. Celestion G12H75 Creamback speaker that delivers the delivers the perfect blend of midrange tones that will allow you to cut through any mix. The cabinet is made of a void-less Baltic birch ply cab that utilizes a fixed baffle to transfer the speaker energy to the entire cabinet. You will be amazed at the amount of bass from this cab. To finish it off wrap the cab in Morgan's twilight finish, a proprietary custom ballistic vinyl covering that is vulcanized to the wood to ensure long lasting durability.

Great, great amp!

This is my fourth hand-wired amp, having played or owned many, many other amps over the last 50 years. My favorite was my (now-gone) Carr Mercury (8watt model). The MVP23 sounds as good and mostly even better than that amp (although the MVP23 doesn't have the reverb), but it's a lot less expensive. For the money I don't think you'll find a better blues, rock, country, fusion, and maybe even jazz (it's certainly not gor the clean headroom of a Fender twin, but that's why it's so great! It's goes smoothly from clean to gritty and dirty on the most wonderful, intoxicating way, and when you add pedals it can go just about anywhere. Most importantly, every thing it does just sounds musical and lush, until it grinds and barks, but it never is harsh or brittle.
Amazing tone

By far best amp I have gotten my hands on. Even with the guitar plugged straight in the versatility in the sound you get is simply unmatched. The warmth and bass is felt whether its electric or acoustic playing.
Very happy with this purchase!

I've had a Morgan PR12 for a while, and love it, so I was looking for another amp to run alongside it. I tried several brands that were available locally, but decided to go for the MVP23 after watching the YouTube clips (not many online, but the ones I heard sounded great). After playing around with the MVP23 at home for several hours, I'm VERY happy with the purchase. The clean sounds are great, and I can dial in some amazing overdrive and distortion sounds as well. When I run my PR12 in stereo with the MVP23 (with a touch of delay on one side), these things sound magical. Seriously. They absolutely growl and I find myself smiling sometimes as I play.
Finally the sound I've been looking for

I've gone through about a dozen amps in the last few years -- never quite finding the tone I've ben looking for. Finally the search is over. This has beautiful British-style clean tones without sounding harsh. Crank up the gain and it becomes warm without sounding muddy. The power scaling is also great - making it an idea practice amp. And it's probably got the nicest looking cabinet I've ever seen.
