Great Tone

I've recently purchased a used Crate v32 palomino. Someone had replaced one of the 12ax7's with a 12au7. So I decided to replace all 3 with new 12ax7's. I asked the guitar center employee about the in stock tubes and they recommended these particular tubes for my amp. I'll tell you I'm very pleased. I play a mexican Strat with David Guilmore Emgs in it, and it sounds phenomenal. I've gotten several compliments from my band mates on the tone of my amp.

Replaced the jj preamp tubes with these mullards in my fender hot rod deluxe iv amp. Cleaned the sharpness out of my highs.. Just slightly mellower tones which I enjoy. I was told years ago that mullards take away from the fender sound,so put off trying them. Happy to say I was told wrong.

I had been using 5881 tubes for a while to emphasize cleans. However, this was limiting my amp. I popped a couple of these babies in there and viola, what a difference!

I wanted to try this tube in the preamp of several amplifiers, new and vintage. This tube performs well and sounds very good. It holds its own impressively compared to NOS GE, RCA and Jan Phillips ones I have.

I always thought TS 12AX7 was the stuff but up until this lockdown bit took hold, only did I swap tubes out boredom not necessity. Putting JJs, TS, GTs, in V1 of my EVH 5153 Stealth wasn't the greatest of tones. Out of the 3 the JJs were more tolerable but not quite what I wanted. So outta that boredom I tried for the Mullard Russian and holy guacamole I love the tone. I went so for in ordering another one for my EVH 5153 50 watt head and secured the same result but the catch is I put a Bugera ECC83B in the V2 of both EVH amps - awesome sauce. I'm set on keeping that arrangement. The amps sound great in cleans and OD. There's an actual noticeable difference in that setup of preamp tubes. I may just order more for my Randall Diavlo and other tube amps.
