Oasis OH-6 Case Humidifier with OH-2 Digital Hygrometer

Description
OH-6 Case Humidifier
The huge success of the original Blue Oasis sound-hole humidifier has brought many inquiries about ways to provide humidification for other instruments including violins, violas, cellos, mandolins, ukuleles, jazz guitars and guitars with flat top cases.
After careful consideration, Oasis decided the best approach to solving this challenge was to develop a humidifier that attaches to the inside of the instrument case. Finding a secure way to attach the humidifier to the inside of the case, and still have it easily removed and re-attached, was no small challenge.
With proven technology, the Blue Oasis humidifier, Oasis inserted two neodymium magnets in the seam of the humidifier. The magnets then attach to the instrument case using either a steel belt style clip or a stainless steel strip with adhesive backing. The belt style clip fits over the side of the case and provides a flat vertical surface for the magnets to adhere. The adhesive backed stainless steel strip allows for either vertical or horizontal attachment anywhere there is a flat surface inside the case. An advantage of this type of humidifier is the flexibility to position the humidifier in a wide variety of locations within your instrument case.
A 10cc. syringe is also included. The syringe will increase the user's control during filling or refilling the humidifier. Since the humidifier holds about 32cc's of water, it will take 3+ syringes of water to fill the first time. After that, refills should only take 1+ syringe of water. As always, Oasis recommends the use of distilled water which will extend the useful life of your humidifier.
OH-2 Digital Hygrometer w/clip
A guitar, or any other stringed musical instrument made of wood, is at risk of cracking when the relative humidity drops below 40%. The Oasis Digital Hygrometer accurately measures relative humidity and can help you decide when to use your Oasis Guitar Humidifier. Because relative humidity varies greatly, even inside your home, we recommend that you keep your hygrometer close to your instrument.
With the convenient case clip, it is now possible to measure the relative humidity inside your guitar case. The new clip attaches to the back of the hygrometer and is mounted on the flap of the supply box inside your guitar case.

Needs Some Improvement

I purchased a new Martin and am concerned about the low humidity created by the winter months. I purchased this product and followed the directions exactly. After almost 3 weeks the hygrometer (works great) indicates the humidity level in the guitar case has only come up 1%. I was hoping that the OH-6 humidifier would be more effective. I'm also concerned that the magnet will not hold the humidifier when transporting the instruement and that if it becomes loose it will scatch the finish of the guitar. The sticky strip that holds the magnet doesn't work well when stuck to the fuzzy material inside the case. There is very little room to move it within the case because the guitar fits so tightly inside the case which limits where I can put it inside the case. I'm going to give this about another week or so and then go with the OH-2 which fits inside the sound hole of the instrument and hope it's more effective.
definitely worth the buy.

this hygrometer is incredibly easy to use, you could teach a 4th grader how to use it in less than 2 minutes probably. there's vids on youtube on how to use it. thats how i learned how to use mine ensuring that i was using it properly. for people like me who live in one of the least humid places in the states- el paso, texas- lack of humidity is a real concern. i bought my 2005 gibson j-200 classic western to el paso and for the first few months i didn't use a hygrometer and started noticed very fine changes in the way the guitar was sounding. this is because the low humidity was effecting the wood of the guitar, which is very responsive to humidity. my first attempt at humidifying my guitar was to cut up a sponge, dampen it, and insert it into the sound-hole between the strings. this in fact does humidify the guitar but the sponge dries out completely after a day and you have to re-dampen it. there's other "poor man" ways to humidify your guitar but the ones that i personally seen don't target the sound-hole as much as the oasis oh-6 product. the other humidifier that guitar center offered me was made by planet waves and it was nothing more than that- a sponge in small plastic casing. i would not recommend buying that product. the oasis oh-6 will last much longer and you may have to refill it about every week. personally i refill mine about every 3 or 4 days as i've found out that the humidity in my room was around mid-20%! i was surprised that my local guitar center looked at me weird when i asked if they had a hygrometer. being that humidity is an issue here, i would've thought they would know exactly what i was talking about immediately. they didn't have this product in stock, an the other humidifiers they carry, personally, look cheap to me. but they were very helpful to get the order placed for me and it was delivered promptly in a week's time.
Hygrometer and humidifier work very well.

My semi-hollow body electric guitar is now safe. Humidity in my house was 30% but the humidity in the case with this system became 49% in 4 days. The hygrometer is very secure inside the dome part of the case. The humidifier is also securely attached to the dome close to the box. The magnet is amazingly strong. (Having a disastrous cracking of the face and back of my classical guitar in the past, I am VERY concerned about humidity!) Now I can worry about my minor scales, not my guitar!
