On-Stage

collapse expand iconDescription

Save your wrist from the torture of winding fresh strings. The GSW500 has all the features you'd expect from a standard string winder. Its durable plastic head makes for fast string loosening and tightening. The built-in notch removes acoustic bridge pins without marring the pins or the instrument itself. Works with most guitars, basses, banjos, and stringed folk instruments.

Great product that is necessary

This is a necessary thing to have when it is that dreaded string change time (especially on a 12-string). Small enough to carry in a small gig bag. Bought two so I will always have a spare.

Too big for strat.

This is really too large for a 6 in line strat. It hits the other tuner pegs so you have to adjust each adjacent key so it doesnt hit. Kind of annoying. It is slightly too large. I have another winder but purchased this as a backup. It WILL be my backup but should have got another color to tell them apart.

Was able to pull one pin on a 12 string acoustic. One. On the next pin, the jaws slipped up around the pin head and chipped it so it won't grab any more pins.

  • Broke at first use

I used this product as intended and the item unscrewed in my hands into 4/5 separate pieces. I'm sure it screws back together but I haven't figured out how yet. Either way the item didn't last longer than 10 minutes before it broke.

Winds my strings like I assumed it would. One should be included with every new guitar purchase, along with a handful of various size picks, and a tuner—Especially novice guitar explorers.

  • Feels flimsy but ok

Feels flimsy when using but it's a cheap plastic part. I would choose a metal or wooden handle one in the future
