We use it to stream music, through our mains between sets. It stays paired with a phone, tablet etc. Very easy to use.

This was purchased mainly to stream music from my phone to a pair of 15" speakers. It works great! I've used it direct to the speakers with XLR cables for a quick and dirty party music setup, and also through a mix board for gigs that want a microphone on standby. In trials, I've laser ranged it out to 54 yards (162 ft) before it started dropping signal. I haven't noticed any volume difference through this vs direct mini-jack from phone through 1/4" plugs to the board. The true stereo output may not be that necessary, but it's always nice to have the option. Yes, it does make a loud search ping if you walk inside and lose the phone pairing. Walking behind a large vehicle will also trip it. My other bluetoooth link also emits a pairing ping when the link drops or re-connects, so it's not unique to the Alto Ultimate. Most will be able to work around this - leave the phone in range if you have to use the facilities, or pause the music and drop the speaker's volume until you're paired back in, then crank it up and enjoy the freedom to move about! I can't comment on battery life, it's been on a charger most times I've used it. I stopped back at GC and commented how well this works, and surprised they don't stock them in stores. Having to order it in is the only negative I could come up with. It's a bit pricey, but I'm very happy with this purchase and have used it a dozen times or so. Hope it stands the test of time.

Can you link 2 or more of these together to increase the range?

No — linking two Alto Bluetooth Ultimate units together does not increase the Bluetooth range. It only enables stereo playback between two receivers. The range is still limited to the typical Bluetooth maximum (about 100 feet or 30 meters line-of-sight).

The Alto Bluetooth Ultimate is designed to stream audio from Bluetooth-enabled devices (like smartphones or tablets) to mixers or powered speakers via its dual XLR outputs. It does not function as a wireless microphone receiver and cannot replace a traditional wireless mic system. To use a wireless microphone, you'll need a dedicated wireless mic system with a transmitter (usually built into the mic) and a compatible receiver connected to your mixer or speaker.

I think he means if it is plugged in to a power source will it continue working, IE charge while it is also transmitting, like a cell phone where you can talk, play or text with it while it is also charging or will it only work when already charged. probably wants to know if it will become a liability after a certain amount of hours as it looses battery power will we only be able to play say 6 to 8 hours etc...
