Long time guitarist, and just bought my first bass(squier contemporary hh jazz bass). However, I've rented and played some really good amps for filling in on gigs and have a general idea what I like. I bought this amp having played a larger ashdown combo in the past and liking the warmth and tone, however at this price point I wasn't expecting anything amazing. This just boils down to a really solid practice amp that is easy to carry and use with your basic features, a line input for music and headphones, a solid tone, plus a mute switch across from the power. Seems a little odd as a combo to have near the power switch since it doesn't save you a trip or anything if you were to tune and didn't want to make noise, nor are there tubes in a solid state you are waiting to get warm, but it's a feature lol. Think my biggest complaint is just that I thought 30 watts was going to be a larger looking and more powerful amp volume wise, but this looks like a 15 watt amp. I have active electronics on my bass as well and it doesn't really boost it although that could just be the bass. Overall, if you are looking for an affordable and portable bass amp that sounds a little bit better than middle of the road tone, and you just need to practice, I think this is a decent buy. If you are going to be gigging and need to cut through a bit, probably would go up price wise to something bigger to handle the job.
