Bellafina

collapse expand iconDescription

A prodigy is a young musician who demonstrates exceptional talent for their age. Bellafina has developed this Prodigy Series violin to make your own prodigy sound like a standout. It starts with a hand-select spruce top, maple back and sides, and an all-ebony fingerboard and pegs. A composite tailpiece with four fine-tuners and a brazilwood bow with an authentic sheep leather cushion complete the instrument.

The Prodigy ships equipped with premier D'Addario Zyex strings to produce a violin with an extremely warm, rich sound—an outstanding choice for beginner instruments. The strings themselves are created with a new generation of synthetic material, making them incredibly stable under various climatic conditions. This allows the new student to play with confidence knowing that they'll always have great tone and stable tuning. The culmination of all these features produces a violin with great sound and playability, truly exceeding expectations of a student instrument.

I bought this as my first violin. Within a month I had to send it back to have the pegs fixed, as they kept sliding back and Guitar Center was not able to fix them in store. Several months later I had the same issue; I am unable to properly tune or play due to difficulty with the pegs. I intend to return this.

At a first glance, there are no flaws in this violin, but I found that it needed constant tuning. The tuning pegs always slipped and it was hard to get the correct pitch without having to start over due to the slipping pegs. The rosin that came with the product wasn't of a very good quality. Using it was similar to rubbing plastic on the bow rather than rosin that would produce powder. I would recommend this violin for beginners, or to those playing in a (school) group so that when the pegs slip during play, it would be overlapped by the other instruments.

I love my new violin. The violin is well crafted and the sound is really clear. I am still trying to self teach myself how to play the violin, which is nearly impossible, but is well worth it. The sound varies slightly, depending on the rosin you apply onto the bow. The rosin that comes with it is decent but I recommend buying a better one. Other than that, I am please with my order.
