Easy to set up and to transport, a little heavy in weight but quality of sound makes up for it. Our group bounces from one place to another so for an amp on the go, it works. The Fender Tone Master is the best one except that tube sound is genuine in the George Benson and that is a tough one to beat.

The GB HRD is simply a great amp...superior sound, nice features (effects loop, presence, etc.) and very easy to dial in. This is my second one. I sold my first one for a 'shiney object' amp and regretted it so bought another one. The drive channel is pretty typical of a Hot Rod Deluxe. However, the clean channel sounds great, I suspect due to the 12AT7 tube in the V1 position and the 100W speaker in a 40W amp! I use pedals to get my palette of tones so the clean channel is all I use. This channel is full and fat with ample Fender sparkle and shimmer. It's a great pedal platform. This amp gets very loud WITHOUT breaking up and without breaking your back. Unlike other reviewers I play mostly rock, blues and jazz-rock fusion style music and am loving this amp!

I'm not much of a gear head, but I have ears, and I trust them. This is not only a wonderful jazz amp that has a clean, organic, and responsive sound with tons of clean head room, I believe it's a great clean platform in which to manipulate the tone how ever you would like using pedals and effects. Even before the speaker was well broke-in, the sound was well balanced and even; there were no harsh highs or boomy lows. I use a Gibson ES-333. While I play a lot of jazz, I also have to play what pays the bills and this amp has been great for everything so far. The Reverb series amps' tone were too sparkly and glassy for my taste, and Princeton amps don't have enough head room and the 65' is too glassy as well. While this is about the most, weight-wise, that I'm willing to haul around, I believe it's worth the investment if you're playing anything from small to larger venues.
