Ludwig

collapse expand iconDescription

Originally created to recognize Ludwig's 100th Anniversary in 2009, Ludwig Centennial Series Drums have been expanded to include three new shell packs in popular, tour-ready configurations. Fusing the warmth and projection of quality North American Maple shells with a choice of six custom sparkle or natural lacquer finishes, the Centennial Series delivers reliabiity and the legendary Ludwig sound in one exceptional package.

The 100% North American Maple Shells are crowned with Vibraband Suspension Rims to ensure supreme resonance, while wearing triple-flanged chrome hoops and redesigned classic lugs. The bass drum features an undrilled design to maintain the natural timbre of the drum. In addition, the die-cast bass drum claws and telescoping spurs ensure a dependable tune and base, respectively.

The Moto configuration features a 24 x 16" kick drum, 13 x 10" rack tom and 16 x 16" and 18 x 16" floor toms. This shell pack is ideal for a rock drummer who fancies projection and a driving beat. With additional component drums available to fit the needs of any playing style, Centennial Series Drums are Ludwig's answer to the working drummer's battle cry.

Snare, cymbals and stands sold separately.

I was hesitant at first to buy this kit because there was another review about how the quality of these Centennial shells weren't that great. After initial inspection, the bearing edges are PERFECT and there is no separation between the plies. Also the wrap is very nicely glued with no overlap (the seam is barely visible). The kick drum is very punchy and boomy, not too much to handle after playing a 22". One huge plus for me is that the atlas mount on the rack tom is removable so you can put it in a snare basket without the bracket attached. The quality of the kit is definitely uprising because I had owned a kit around the same price and it doesn't even compare. Factory heads sound alright, cant wait to slap some coated emperors on these babies.
