MXL

collapse expand iconDescription

The Guitar Cube Pro is identical to MXL's Drum Cube Pro (see H74956), but comes with a chrome finish and EQ curve optimized for electric guitar recording. The Guitar Cube Pro is the perfect solution for capturing or recording guitars on stage, but also vocals too. The Guitar Cube Pro provides a 6-micron gold sputtered diaphragm and a 20Hz-20kHz frequency range. Placement near a stack is made possible thanks to its 140dB SPL range and ability to handle the heaviest metal or rock music. The small design of the Guitar Cube Pro allows for tight placement on stage or in the studio. Each microphone comes with hardmount clip and pouch.

* Requires 48-volt phantom power to operate.

This MLX Guitar Cube Pro is a great condenser mic, whether you position it on the grill of your cab, or use it as a room mic, it sounds great it either application. I haven't recorded any other instruments, but when mixed with my Focusrite 18i20 Interface, it is very impressive. Unboxing video below.

I have used this mic a lot, surprisingly. I will dual mic guitar cabs with it. Typically with an SM57. It helps capture more of the high end that the 57 doesn't capture. Blending the two allows me to dial in the tone right where I want it. Additionally, I have used these on toms countless times. They work really well in that arena but they are heavy and bulky so they will end up on the bottom head while a smaller, more lightweight mic on top.
