Open Box Maxon OD-9 Overdrive Effects Pedal Level 1

Description
The Maxon OD-9 Overdrive Effects Pedal delivers the legendary overdrive tones that shaped rock history. Based on the original Maxon OD-9 circuit from the 1970s, this pedal provides a familiar yet enhanced overdrive experience. With an improved chipset and true bypass switching, guitarists can achieve ultra-smooth and dynamic overdrive tones with more control and less noise. Between the Drive and Level knobs, players can tweak the intensity and volume of the overdrive. The Hi-Boost and Hi-Cut tone controls offer extra versatility to shape the brightness and find the perfect tone. The Maxon OD-9 provides a range of overdrive tones from subtle to shattering for any guitarist looking to fuel their rise to stardom.
Authentic OD-9 Circuitry for Iconic Tone
Maxon has been crafting overdrive pedals for over 30 years and the OD-9 continues their legacy of premium tone using the same circuit board as the original. Featuring the renowned NJM4558D op amp chip, the OD-9 produces the signature smooth and uncompressed overdrive tone that the "TS" line is known for. Without the added FET switching circuit of the OD808, the OD-9 offers a slightly more open sound perfect for classic rock tones.
Complete Control Over Your Overdrive
While the OD-9 may look like a simple overdrive pedal, its controls provide a wide range of overdrive tones. The Drive knob increases the intensity of the overdrive from a light boost to fully saturated. The Level knob adjusts the volume of the effect. For tone shaping, the Hi-Boost adds brightness and bite while the Hi-Cut reduces treble. With the combination of these controls, guitarists can achieve their ideal balance of overdrive and tone.
Premium Design for Stage and Studio
Housed in a die-cast zinc case, the Maxon OD-9 is built to withstand the demands of performance and recording. It features a durable design, intuitive controls and a 3-year warranty from Maxon. For guitarists wanting to recreate iconic rock tones or develop their own signature sound, the Maxon OD-9 provides a premium overdrive pedal ready for any stage or studio.

Pretty Fine TS9

The Ibanez TS9 has been my favorite overdrive pedal from the moment that I tried one. That being said, it's got a buffer that seems to alter my tone in a way that I don't prefer, so I thought that I'd give the Maxon OD9 a try, because it's true bypass. While it is a fine sounding pedal, something about its character was just a bit too different from my favorite TS9 tones. I can't quite put my finger on what made it different. Perhaps it's just a bit brighter, or it breaks up in a different way, but I found that I preferred the classic TS9 over this fancy iteration of the circuit. To each their own though.
Why didn't I get one sooner?

Experimenting with a JTM 45 to have lovely tone at a controllable volume, I still wasn't happy with it. I didn't want a fuzz tone and I've got overdrives already. I just needed something simple to push the front of the amp a bit and make it scream. Yup, this Tube Screamer (same as an Ibanez TS9) does that beautifully. I use 2 of them, one before the preamp with not much drive, and one in the pedal board through the effects loop with higher drive settings.
Great build quality... tight sound

Though I am not crazy about the effort required to depress the actual pedal into acdivation I do appreciate it protecting me from accidental deactivation. Overall the sound tightens up any Marshall and makes that heavy fizzy bass far more clear and articulate.
One of the best overdrives on the market. Tried and True!

This pedal is probably one of the best you can get,in my opinion, for overdrive. Adam D and Joel from killswitch engage were credited for helping create this pedal so you know its high quality. The od9 is perfect for getting that tube screamer sound, which means for all you metal players out there incredible pinch harmonics... so yeah 5 stars
