Very easy and fun to use!
Easy to use as long as you download the online downloadable manual and getting started book on the Native Instruments website as long as you have used a sampler, DAW, or drum machine, synthesizer; bass machine or keyboard, you can use the Maschine MK3 it gets easier as you try the sample drums or instruments or sound effects before you pick them in your sounds, patterns and snapshots. Also downloading all the programs from Native Access may have taken a while and its worth it. Hoping later to buy the Komplete Kontrol synth and controller.

Buyer beware!!!
Really important to mention a very common problem with the MK3. Big issues with a lot of the sample packs giving the error message "(insert sample pack name here) cannot be loaded". Super common problem a lot of people are experiencing. I did a brand new installation and the only advice I could find was to re-install since the software, for some reason, didn't recognize the path to find the samples. I moved the samples, re-installed...and still nothing. Everyone should know before buying the MK3 that it isn't as easy to set up and use as the videos make it look. Also, super important to mention that there is no tech support for Native Instruments...only FAQ pages on their site that typically don't address the issue correctly and the website has a ton of errors. Spent almost $800 for the MK3 (with protection plan from Guitar Center) and returned it after staring at my computer for 3 days trying to figure out a problem that should have been solved before these hit the market. Buyer beware. Not as advertised and no tech support. Strongly re-consider buying an MK3.........

Maschine MK3 on Mac VS PC

One thing I've noticed is that the Maschine ran flawlessly for the 2 years years I've owned it on my Mac but when I tried to run it on my Windows 10 i7 PC with16 gigs of ram it was nowhere near as stable. It would freeze or crash at times. Other times I would get error messages when it came to loading patches along with other little quirks. Now I just run full time on Mac with no issues.

I bought this product after my music partner had nothing but good things to say about it. Unfortunately, once I got it home and plugged it in I have had nothing but issues. If youre looking for equipment you need to troubleshoot everytime you want to use it, then this is for you. If you want to actually get some writing done and use the equipment that you purchase, keep searching.

Bought this product as my partner was impressed. Has had nothing but issues and it barely ever works for more than ten minutes before the hardware freezes and I have to go digging through Google searches to try and troubleshoot the issue. 0/10. STAY AWAY!!!
No need to look up at the computer !

Compared to the MK2, this is a far better product. The fact you no longer have to interrupt your creative flow by looking up at the computer screen is a game changer. Just like the good old days of drum machines with the added bonus of massive sound libraries.

I don't record on computer. I'm use strictly outboard gear (Tascam multitrac to be exact.) Would this unit be appropriate for outboard recording?
You can use it without a computer, but you would need a computer to update the internal software but other than that you can record with it.submitted5 years ago
