Description
The Nord Stage 4 73-key keyboard redefines live performance and studio production with its innovative panel design, enhanced sound engine, and premium build quality. Featuring a triple sensor keybed for unparalleled responsiveness and dynamic control, this instrument ensures an expressive playing experience. The new LED faders for each layer provide seamless navigation and real-time adjustments, while the advanced preset library offers ready-to-use sounds across piano, synth and organ categories. Combining award-winning organ simulations, an upgraded synth engine and versatile effects, the Nord Stage 4 delivers a comprehensive toolkit for musicians who demand precision and creativity. Its robust features and intuitive interface make it a standout choice for professionals.
LED Faders and Layer Scene for Intuitive Control
The Nord Stage 4 introduces a redesigned panel with dedicated LED faders for each layer, giving players precise visual feedback and control over their sound. These faders make it easy to balance complex patches or sculpt nuanced tones during live performances. The Layer Scene functionality lets players switch between two completely different setups with the press of a button, streamlining transitions between songs or sections. Together, these features ensure a fluid and intuitive workflow, allowing musicians to focus on their performance without distraction.
Triple Sensor Keybed for Expressive Playability
At the heart of this keyboard is Nord's premium triple sensor keybed, designed to capture every nuance of your performance. This advanced mechanism tracks subtle dynamics and articulation, making it ideal for everything from delicate piano passages to energetic organ solos. The weighted keys replicate the feel of an acoustic piano, while the triple sensor system ensures fast and accurate note repetition. This attention to detail provides a natural, immersive playing experience that elevates both practice and live performance.
Enhanced Synth Engine and Sample Memory
The Nord Stage 4 features the Nord Wave 2 synth engine, offering three independent synth layers and doubled sample memory for expanded sonic possibilities. Enhanced with Tru-Vibrato, Unison and Round Robin functionality, this engine delivers lifelike textures and dynamic tones. Real-time controls, including a polyphonic arpeggiator with gate and pattern modes, allow on-the-fly sound design. These advanced capabilities make the synth section a powerful tool for creating rich, layered compositions or experimental soundscapes.
Dedicated Effects for Creative Sound Shaping
Each layer of the Nord Stage 4 is equipped with its own effect section, providing unparalleled flexibility in shaping your sound. New additions like Spring, Booth and Cathedral Reverb add depth and atmosphere, while effects like Pump, Spin and Flam Delay introduce dynamic movement. Enhanced Rotary Speaker Drive and Vintage 122 simulation provide authentic organ tones with adjustable mic positioning. These tools allow musicians to craft unique sounds tailored to their personal style and performance needs.

2 questions- what is the difference between this and the 'compact' version? Also can the keyboard be split, and separate sounds assigned, i.e. bass and piano?
There is no separate “Compact” version of the Nord Stage 4 line like in previous generations (e.g., the Stage 3 Compact). Instead, the Nord Stage 4 73 is the most compact in the Stage 4 lineup. Here’s the lineup: Nord Stage 4 88: Full-size, weighted hammer-action keys. Nord Stage 4 73: Semi-weighted waterfall keys – lighter and more suitable for organ/synth playing. This is the closest thing to a “compact” model. Nord Stage 4 73 vs 88: Same sound engine and features; the main difference is keybed size/type and physical footprint. So if you're referring to a “compact” Nord Stage 4, the 73-key version is it. Can the Keyboard Be Split with Separate Sounds (e.g., Bass + Piano)? Yes, absolutely. The Nord Stage 4 supports keyboard splits and layering, allowing you to: Split the keyboard into up to three zones. Assign different sound engines (Piano, Synth, Organ) to each zone. Layer sounds (e.g., piano and pad on top of each other). Set split points and customize transitions (including crossfades) between zones. So putting a bass sound on the left and a piano on the right is easy and fully supported.submitted2 years ago

What's the difference in the size of the keys of the full size stage 4 vs the compact stage 4?
They both have full size keys.
