Upgrading can sound good

So far so good. The only problem so far as stated above I received one bent. I have a small vice and I bent it back wasn't tough and that's what's sort of troubling. I think that they have improved the sound my toms--seem to have a consistent tone. I also bought gaskets to cover the tom mounting holes. They don't conform to the curve of the drum. I up graded my 1986 pearl maple set. I waited so long because I have 6 toms. I noticed that hardware is taking a constant jump so I jumped in and bought 6 of them. Remember optimounts go by the length of the tom. I also bought 3 th 88l's (I have 3 th 85s) I didn't go with the 900s or the 1000s because I had bought the th 95s (back in 1986) and it's gearing system slips so I went with the teeth system gearing of the th 88.

I finally retro fit 6 toms on my 1986 maple cover pearl set. I will cost me over $360 (thats why it took me so long if I wait any more it would cost me more money) But well worth the wait, They sound better--a more evenly continuous sound. They went on easy--remember to give them the length of the drum and the model. I also bought the gaskets to cover the mount arm holes. I received one bracket that was bent (the upper arm) I have a small vice that I used to straiten it out. Didn't take much so that's not a good thing.

Nice mount which is specific to only certain models of tom. Went on fairly easily.

Good mount, doesn't interfere with the resonance of the drum.

This mount works exactly as advertised. It's a solid mount that connects easily to the drum and provides just the right amount of sustain. Make sure you're choosing the correct size for your drum's depth, not diameter.

ive had a trick 7 piece drumset for about 13 months now and as many people know, it comes without a mounting system which i think is the only flaw about trick drums. i bought three optimount tom mounting systems and they fit the drum perfectly and i have yet to have any problems with it. i believe its one of the most, if not the most versatile mounting system i have yet to use. it allows you to mount close to the shell without having to sacrifice and resonance or fullness to the drum and gives it that good punch yet still allows you to tune your drum to the perfect sound that your looking for. ive been playing for about 22 years and i have yet to come across a mounting system that matches this one. its definately a keeper and i recomend it to anyone looking to buy a new mounting system.
