Be advised the unbalanced line in is 1/8" (3.5mm) - not 1/4" as stated. Photo of rear panel clearly shows this. I knew this when ordering so I got what I wanted. It works just fine. My mic has the 1/8" male jack and you will need to engage the phantom power button for it to operate. Also be aware the 1/4" output jack will take a mono (TS) or a stereo (TRS) connector. I can now record into OBS Studio without software filters that apply gain. Or I should say I don't need to bump up the gain in the filters. Also makes voice recording with Audacity much less cumbersome. While noise filtering may be needed after the fact (not because of the preamp but due to perhaps applying too much gain) I do not need to use the Amplify filter after making a recording. Worth the cost for my purposes. Shipped from Kansas City. MO on Wednesday and delivered to a city in So Cal by UPS on Saturday. Excellent transaction all the way around!
I would buy this product again.

Like all Rolls products, this thing has no frills. It's a very solid, well-built steel-bodied pre-amp with phantom power. It's about the quietest option you're going to find for under $100. If you need an affordable & portable solution, don't waste money on M-Audio Buddies or any of those other noisy low-end options. I've only had this a couple weeks, but the Rolls headphone amp I use has been constantly plugged in and working perfectly for 9 years now. This pre-amp looks like it is just as high quality.

Is anything else needed (DI Box/Mixer,etc.) before or after the MP13 in this scenario to run into pedalboard and into keyboard amp? XLR clip on mic from saxophone>MP13 (Phantom on)>1/4 out from MP13 to pedals>Pedals>Amp *Also, once MP13 phantom is used to convert to 1/4, If signal doesn't appear to work………can it be routed into a Red Pand mini mixer (before the amp)?

Will it work if I plug into the mic. with fem. XLR end and into pre-amp with 1/4" male end. Out of pre-amp with fem. XLR to amplifier with 1/4" male? I ordered cords before I got a pre-amp. Sorry I Hope I didn't confuse you, I'm new at this. I've always played acoustic guitar in the past..
Yes, if the question is that a cable with an XLR on one end and a 1/4" on the other, then yes that will work.submitted6 years ago

I have a studio microphone with it's own phantom power supply, I wanted to know if the phantom power is switchable on this pre-amp.
Yes it's switchable. There's a button on the bottom right of the front panel.
