    I've used several amp-in-a-box solutions (Helix, Iridium, Boss-IR, etc.), and while they all sound great, they lacked the feel I experience with my traditional tube amps. I would be fine recording with them, but when I tried using them live, I missed my tube amps every time. Still in my search for being able to run direct from my pedalboard, I tried the Revolt, and so far, I'm very glad I did. I really like not having menus to hunt through; it's laid out like an amp! Every channel is useful; great cleans, killer crunch, and pretty good high-gains sounds. I use it with the Two Notes CAB M+, so I have no feedback on the Revolt's cab emulation, but the pre-amp sounds and feels very close to my tube amps. I don't know if it's the high voltage used with the 12AX7, but it does respond well to picking dynamics, guitar volume changes, and pedals. Out of all the other amp simulators I've tried, this is the best feeling one. I've not played it live yet, so I'll have to follow up on that experience, but so far, so good. The two less-than-perfect characteristics of this pedal... the high gain channel is the weakest one. Don't get me wrong, it sounds great, but not as true to what it's being modeled after as the other two channels. The other being the 12V at 500 mA power requirement. It comes with it's own power supply, but who wants to run an additional power cable to his/her pedalboard? I did get a VooDoo Labs Pedal Power 3 plus; it has 12 V at 400 mA and seems to be working fine.

    What is the life expectancy of the pre amp tube? And how easy/difficult would it be to replace? I can't tell from the photos if there is a release latch to remove the tube or if instead you have to unscrew the pedal. Thank you

    That depends on how often it's used. They last a very long time. They're not like power tubes as they always run way below capacity. It isn't designed for the user to change the tube. It's not like a battery, it has no latch.
